Talking My Panny plasma is being delivered!

I got the call at work this morning. They're planning on ~2 pm for my afternoon delivery so I rushed home and I'm waiting for it to arrive any minute.

It is the TH58-PZ800U.

Unfortunately the delivery guy who called said there is one person in the truck. I'm supposed to have "white gloves" service, but I'll have to help.

I thought they're supposed to take it out of the box and plug it in. He said no. I called Amazon and they gave me another $50 off because of this.

I'm not sure if it's a hassle or not.

Anyway I'm very excited and waiting for it. I'll post more later and put new pics in my HT profile.

Meanwhile, feel free to look at my current "old" HT setup.

You should tell them you're not signing for it until it's plugged in and you can see it works.

See, it's pretty cold here right now and I heard you shouldn't turn it on until it warms up. If he won't take it out of the box, how can I test it??

Can I make him wait while I open the box and plug it in?

Not sure what to do . . .

It's simply for the convenience factor of knowing it works.
If you wait an hour, turn it on and nothing happens, you'll be bummed out.

It's not like you're out money or anything, just time.

You're not going to damage the TV by making sure it works.

it all seems like you all guys work for Panasonic or something, and here I was thinking no one would buy a plasma nonetheless a panasonic.

I admit panasonic tvs look good but it got left behind for other alternatives. IF - a big IF- i had to get a plasma, it would be a pionner.

I understand we people are fans of certain brand and acknowledge little of their cons in favor of their pros. And we are "happy" with them. So congrats to you all with your pannis.

Smile Whew! It's in!

Well everyone, it is here. For now it is attached on the stand and sitting on top of my glass and metal TV credenza. Hopefully this weekend I will have it mounted on the wall mount on the opposite side of my living room.

With the delivery truck it was as they said -- only one guy so I had to help lift it up the front steps and into the foyer. I could tell this TV was transported properly -- the box wasn't bent or crushed and had no signs of it being laid on its side. The delivery truck had it strapped upright to the wall with another Panny plasma right next to it.

The delivery guy seemed to know a bit about handling TVs. He seemed very conscientious and kept it upright all the time. He said he'd just delivered and setup a Samsung plasma. He also knew about waiting for it to warm up to room temp before powering on which impressed me.

He even helped me carry the old TV to a spare bedroom. Then he put together the table stand and we lifted the TV onto it and he then put the 4 bolts through the TV into the posts. Then we lifted the entire thing up onto my glass & metal TV credenza.

Thanks doby, but I decided not to turn it on until it warms up. I would do it if I suspected shipping damage, but at this point I wouldn't blamed the shipper for anything. I trust them.

I know if something were to go wrong now, Amazon and then Panasonic would be responsible to make it right.

I'm going to wait now until dinner time, then turn it on.

Meanwhile, enjoy the pictures!
