Default Idea Stealing from HT galleries

I've been browsing a lot of the galleries because I am looking at setting up a home theater room in the very near future, and wanted to get ideas. So my question is, how do all of you that have galleries feel about somebody lifting your idea and using it? Would you be insulted or complimented?

I imagine most would be flattered if you used their idea ... provided you don't execute it better than they did

I'm sure it would be nice if you mentioned the member u took the idea from in your HT gallery.

I think it would really depend on how unique the idea is.

Like... I don't mind if you name your theater the same as mine but certain things make my theater fully unique. For example,.. I use a Playstation 3 as my Blu Ray player which is pretty creative. If I saw anyone else doing that I knew they would be ripping off my idea.

Oh I'd definately give credit where credit is due! Just some of the ideas of how people executed certain things are really cool, and I never would have thought of it myself.

I'm also going to do the same, picking out some ideas except mine is already very unique, in that my Home Theater doubles as my Bedroom, so I can enjoy movies in Bed.

Now that I have Blu Ray, this Home Theater of mine is going to have a big change in 2009 - with a new Sony HD Receiver on the way (will need to start saving money), plus will need two more rear speakers to accommodate the 7.1 system.

I may even need to replace the Home Theater Projector I'm using now (a DLP Infocus 4800 Projector). Need to save for that too.

Thank goodness for the internet where you can buy all your Electronics stuff cheaper.

NO! You can not use my idea for extremly cheap but attractive acoustic panels!

But if you decide to anyway...... here's how....

Pick up some acoustical hanging ceiling tiles at the home improvement store. Pick up some batting and cool fabric that accentuates your room decor at the fabric store (get your wife to help with that if you are decor impaired.) Cut the tiles to the size/shape you want. Cut the fabric a few inches larger than the tiles. Use a hot glue gun to apply batting and fabric to tiles. Total project cost? $50-100 depending upon the expense of the tiles and fabric you choose.

That might be a project I give her to keep her busy while I'm running wires and setting everything up. It should also keep her eyes away from the receipts!

Compliment of course, although a few times i have seen others copy, then take the credit for the idea, even though they copied from someone else here!

at least give the person the proper credit for the idea!!
