This is the series where there are a lot of close ups of each frame and Moore narrates, correct?

An animated version of the Tale of the Black Freighter was to be included in the film, but has been cut (yet another sacrifice when dealing with the time constraints). The animated tale is being released as its own DVD to hype the Watchmen movie, with rumours flying it will be re-incorporated into the film for the director's cut.

For those who don't know, the Tale of the Black Freighter runs through many "episodes" of The Watchmen comic, often providing allusions, metaphors, and foreshadowed symbolism of the main plot. I could detail these, but hey -- its the internet. If you really want to know, you can find it yourself, probably in less than 30 seconds.

I'm not sure i'll want to Watch it in the actually movie. It was nice in the book but I never thought it would apply well to the screen. Not a fan of pirates ether.

Surprising that something that is supposidly barely a month away seems so mysterious. We haven't seen any footage of the animated movie, know its length, or well anthing. We know that Gerald Butler will provide the voice of the Captain and that it will be an R rated anime style movie. The rumors that it will be incorperated into the directers cut make me alittle apprehensive to buy it right way but I will definutly give it a look

No, its the entire comic read by one man with slight animation on the panels to make the original art "cinematic". Think of it as a comics version of a "book on tape". I've got the first 9 episodes -- taken for what it is, it's not bad. If they could get a full voice cast together, I'd be interested in seeing them give The Dark Knight Returns and the Sandman comics a similar treatment.

Yeah, yeah, yeah I saw some of it on Youtube. And the guy who does the voice over is Alan Moore. The Author.

No way that voiceover is Alan Moore, he distances himself pretty far from anything Watchmen related. I thought the voiceover was fine except they definitely should have hired a woman for Silk Spectre II.

Cool to hear about the BD release, can't see myself paying a bunch for it, but would buy at the $10-15 point.

No, it's NOT.

Alan Moore read some of the comic years ago, and someone spliced his reading of Rorshach onto the motion comic version in that YouTube clip.

Alan Moore does not voice anyone in the Motion Comics version of The Watchmen.

*sigh*

You're going to make me look it up, aren't you...

Ok, ok, calm down. No need to get so upset. I put the youtube video in another one of my posts asking if this was the same thing and now you've answered my question. Calm down. Not that big of a deal.

I've been watching them all online as they come out, and while they are really good, I don't really care to own the blu ray, I might buy Black Freighter on blu ray, but I'll be hesitated to wait if it ends up coming with a special edition of Watchmen.

You're probably better off just spending $14 and buying the book and using the rest to go see the movie. Just remember, that AMC Theaters doesn't usually take MovieCash as well.

I might consider purchasing Black Freighter/Under the Hood release a few weeks later if the movie is any good.
