An animated version of the Tale of the Black Freighter was to be included in the film, but has been cut (yet another sacrifice when dealing with the time constraints). The animated tale is being released as its own DVD to hype the Watchmen movie, with rumours flying it will be re-incorporated into the film for the director's cut.

For those who don't know, the Tale of the Black Freighter runs through many "episodes" of The Watchmen comic, often providing allusions, metaphors, and foreshadowed symbolism of the main plot. I could detail these, but hey -- its the internet. If you really want to know, you can find it yourself, probably in less than 30 seconds.
