Hopefully this won't negatively affect R&D and their schedule for new products. That is probably wishful thinking though.

Almost all. Those involved in gold mining are doing OK. In the past few weeks I've seen three secondary placements for miners that trade on the Toronto Stock Exchange and another for a bullion holding closed-end ETF.

it sucks they they have to lay off all those people, but if we want these companies to be around and be healthy and well after the global economic recession they have to take preventative measures now so that they can ensure success in the future

I hope our nation would still be able to stand up again and recover with these trials. Here in the Philippines, Intel closed and many companies are affected.
