Default Emotiva LPA-1 with yammie 663 to pioneer elite 03

Hey my peeps. Check out my setup via my signature. U think an Emotiva LPA-1 will be a very good upgrade to the sound? I will eventually upgrade the 663 to a pioneer elite 03 so that Emotiva LPA-1 has to be good for either of the receivers. U think it's a major sound increase? Also, how would i connect it to the yammie 663 to work with the tv, the speakers, cable tv, ps3, receiver? RIght now, everything is connected to the 663. Can i leave it that way and somehow connect that Emotiva LPA-1 to just the receiver and somehow the receiver sound with stop outputting and the emotiva work in it's place? Not sure how it would all work. I'm about to do a trade for one but i want to make sure it's worth it and try to understand how to connect this. Thanks

So you want to get the LPA-1 Emotiva processor and use the Pioneer (Yamaha for now) as your amplifier. I cannot speak from experience but I have heard rave reviews on here regarding Emotiva products.

I am planning on picking up an amp or to in the near future as an aside.

As far as a major sound increase...tough to say. The Pioneer is pushing 15 more watts/channel but receivers are notoriously underpowered. Meaning they output less than advertised due to space limitations. If you are gunning for a serious power increase, I'd recommend an Emotiva amplifier to pair with your processor.

Don't get me wrong, I love Pioneer products but for your question, that is how I'd go.

Processor? No i thought that emotiva was an amp and u can connect it to the 663 to make the sound clearer and give it more power. I was reading reviews on this being what was done. I don't know what u mean by processor. lol. I was going to get pioneer elite 03 receiver (to replace the 663) and a pioneer elite kuro 111FD (to replace my 40a650) but then i read about that plasma not being good for video games so when i was going to get the elite 03 receiver, i found some info stating it would be better to get the emotiva lpa 3 but i found this guy who wants to trade me lpa 1. I thought it was an amp and when i would have connected it to my 663, it would have made the sound soooooooo much better according to the reviews. I have no idea about processor or what that means as it wasn't stated in those blogs and reviews i read.

The LPA-1 is an older emotiva amplifier. It is nearly identical to the upa-7, except the rear surround channels are 50wpc instead of 125wpc. The xpa-3 is a 3 channel amplifier that is rated at 200wpc and is a different design than the upa-7/lpa-1. While the xpa-3 is a better amplifier, you will still hear an audible improvement from the LPA-1 over the amplifiers in your receiver.

BTW, gaming is great on my plasma.

Somebody did not do their homework (me) and kp pointed out, it is an amp and not their older processor. Sorry for the confusion.

I see u have the pioneer. I want to get the 50" elite 111FD as i saw it was the first to get a 10 in picture quality and it's rated better than even the sammie a950 and competes against the xbr8 easily. But pioneer is stopping the plasma's plus i was reading that although those plasmas are better made to not get any burn in, it can still get burn in playing certain games for a prolonged period of time or certain dvds. Maybe ur not using it with the certain games? NO? I want to get the elite 111fd and match it up with the elite 03 receiver but i don't know if that elite 03 receiver would be better than just getting the emotiva and having that work with the yamaha. What do u think?

I'm not familiar enough with the new Pioneer elite receivers to be sure, some have complained about their musicality, but I am sure that an external amplifier, even just 3 channels, will improve the sound quality coming from your yammy.

As for games, I've been playing mlb: the show 09, as well as some older ps2 games(Final Fantasy XII and Kingdom Hearts) in addition to Fallout3, Street Fighter IV, and a handful of others. I usually play for a few hours at a time, maybe twice a week and watch movies on it usually about 3 or four times a week many of them being scope films. I have not experienced any burn-in.

In regards to connecting the LPA-1 with your Yamaha and surrendering the processing duties to the Emotiva, I don't think you can do that...maybe someone on here more knowledgeable than myself could instruct you otherwise if it is possible.

The LPA-1 7 channel amplifier has been replaced by the UPA-7.

It will give you greater power output for the speakers which can result in much better sound. I'm not familiar enough with the Elite sc-03 to comment, but so long as there are pre-outs then you can connect it the same way as you would the yammy, which is with 8 analog audio cables from the pre-outs in the receiver to the input for each channel in the amplifier.

To the previous posters, the processor is the UMC-1 and XMC-1, which replaced the DMC-1.
