Default Whether or not a BD Player will play multi-region releases

For each BD Player's specs under Players, I think you should add a line saying whether or not each player will play multi-region releases, and if so, what regions it WILL play.

Why would we want such a line added to say that, when if the disc is a multi-region disc it WILL play in every player that's listed on this site. Let me make it simple...

Region A players (players from the U.S., Canada and Asian nations, like Japan, Hong Kong and Korea.): Will play Region A discs (discs from the U.S. Canada and Asian nations) and Multi-Region discs (Regions A,B, and C)

Region B players (players from Europe, Australia, and New Zealand):
Will play Region B discs (discs from Europe, Australia, and New Zealand) and Multi-region discs (Regions A,B, and C)

Region C Players (players from Russia and India): Will play Region B discs (discs from Russia and India) and Multi-Region discs (Regions A,B, and C)

Now to figure out what disc will play in your player you must first know where you got your player from and then when you look at a disc turn it over and look at the back of the case and you will see the symbols for it's region code.

A better and more useful piece of information to note is whether the player handles PAL material. While all Region B players handle PAL, the ability of playing PAL extras on region-free BD's on Region A players would come in quite handy. The new Oppo does this well and I believe one of the LG players handles PAL as well.

yea but all BD players are region locked to a specific region, now I know there is a player that will play B discs with a remote hack but thats not advertised by the manufacturer.

No clicking players there is a drop down menu that will decipher region A, B and C players and list them accordingly for you.

Now whether the disc plays on that player lies solely on the discs manufacturer and the region coding they choose. Certain studios have taken a region free stance, Universal and Paramount. Sony catalog titles are said to be released region free and they are on a case by case basis for new releases. Lions Gate and Disney are generally locked. Fox is traditionally locked to Region A in the US

The site here is revolving to have a system in place to allow users to check region coding for movies but its a Work in Progress to date
