Default Purple Rain and Out for Justice July 24th

Press release:

Quote:
EXPIERENCE THE SOUND AND THE FURY OF HI DEF!

PURPLE RAIN

OUT FOR JUSTICE

Debut on HD DVD and Blu-Ray Disc July 24 from Warner Home Video

Burbank, California (May 31, 2007) –On July 24, films by Grammy Award®-winning artist Prince and one of the world’s top action hero’s Steven Segal collide with the high definition debuts of the Academy Award®-winning (Best Original Song) Purple Rain and Out for Justice. Both films make their simultaneous HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc debuts from Warner Home Video.

All bonus materials on the Standard Definition version will be included on the high definition versions and will be available for $28.99 SRP. Order due date is June 19.

Purple Rain (1984)

A young man (Prince) with a talent for music has begun a career with much promise. He meets an aspiring singer, Apollonia, and finds that talent alone isn't all that he needs. A complicated tale of his repeating his father's self destructive behavior, losing Apollonia to another singer (Morris Day), and his coming to grips with his own connection to other people ensues.

Out for Justice(1991)

Out for action? You found it! Steven Seagal hits the target like nobody else in this pounding police thriller. Brooklyn-born cop Gino (Seagal) has seen many changes in “the neighborhood.” One sad one is that boyhood adversary-turned-criminal scum Richie (William Forsythe) has turned local streets into war zones. He’s a mad dog unleashed and Gino and his world-weary partner (Law and Order’sJerry Orbach) must hunt him down before the body count multiplies.

I am loving this announcement! I think I will go "purify myself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka" to prepare for these releases.

But Appolonia, back then anyway, in HD is a very good thing. Hey, was Vanity in that movie?

I think Appolonia was a rewritten Vanity in the story.

LOL

Speaking of Vanity...Tristar/Columbia Pictures might as well release "The Last Dragon".

HD DVD can "Kiss my Converse"! LMAO
The role of Bruce Leroy is being played by Blu-ray.

Has anyone seen this old action movie besides me?

Hahaha. This is just one of those movies that I will own no matter how many ways they release it. Kinda excited to hear about the extras on this one. Definate buy.

You know, I'm glad that Warner is releasing stuff, stuff that took ages on DVD to get, but with the way sales are going on titles I have to wonder why these kinds of titles are getting picked. Catalog titles are simply sucking on every level. Neither of these titles will find their way into my collection and I have to wonder how many will really make it to store shelves either. Poor choices considering how vast the WB library is.

Purifying Myself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka in HD....even though it's VC-1 i've got to have Purple Rain I hope WB included all the extras from the 20th Anniversary DVD. I hope to see a crying dove in HD.

EDIT: Okay now that i've overcome my excitement for Purple Rain and can actually read the press release, I see that all the extras from the DVD will be on the Blu-Ray...Now if I could only get Under the Cherry Moon and Sign O' the Times. Bah...Sign O' The Times is, oddly enough, a Universal title.
DAMN!!!!!
