I Don't have an answer for you, but a few questions.

What speakers are you using and the Ohms for them?

What subwoofer are you using?

Are you using plugs or just regular wire tips into the 789?

I know it's alot of work to do, but you may want to unplug all but one speaker and see if it happens?

******EDIT******
Sorry after I typed this I thought about it, you said 'Stand-by Mode' and not 'Protection'...

It must be late and im sleepy, I'm not paying attention
******EDIT******

I just gotten the same Denon as you and I am having the hardest time understanding that damn manual.
I'm thinking to myself 'WHO WROTE THIS?'

You've got a short somewhere, or the receiver's faulty, or it's overheating. The protection circuitry is kicking in to save your equipment. Like suggested, go through each connection and make sure none of the speaker wires are touching each other or another terminal. How loud are you turning it? Placement also doesn't look that great in your gallery. Is it getting really hot?

I'd recommend to give that receiver some more breathing room up top if at all possible. Maybe rearrange your components?

Just keep in mind that the manual is poor translation Japanese for English and it will all come to you quite clearly.

Denons, although great, can be hard to get used to. I had to figure out the 689 and 789 with no manual. What did you need help with?
