Default Denon AVR Manuals...

Just thought that I'd post my findings from reading my Denon manual. Denon's are made in Japan so if you read the manual keeping in mind how a Japanese visitor to the U.S. might talk to you in English, understanding the manual becomes much, much easier!

Why they didn't get a better translation from Japanese to English like Sony or from Korean to English like Samsung I suppose I will never know. But now that I've figured it out the manual has become quite clear to me.

Oh well small trade for very high build quality, I find most manuals to be some what basic to the point. How are you liking your new denon, i just got a new 2808ci, my old one is an avr1800.

Hum, I never thought of it like that. The manual for my
AVR-889 only became clear to me after I read that stupid thing many times.

illini,

I am really enjoying the AVR-889, especially now after getting the additional surrounds installed to get the 7.1 channels. It is a quality unit producing very good audio and soundstaging.

bong,

re-read it again with the mind-set that it is poor translation from Japanese to English and it will become much clearer.

I just upgraded my receiver from the Outlaw listed in my sig below to the Denon 3808ci mainly to get the new HD audio formats. You guys are correct. The manual is a mess. Fortunately AVS has a great forum that just about any question about this receiver has been asked and answered. This receiver has literally thousands of options. Another advantage is that if you have this hooked up to your home network you can change many settings via a web browser. I have everything up and running. Next steps are Audussy and Internet Radio.

I have the AVR-889 and I thought the manual was actually more informative than others I have had in the past.

Although, I should add that I am one of those types that will re-calibrate their receiver like once a month for no reason though just because I love tweaking and playing with all the settings.
