What?
No, it's a great transfer, I thought. Very film-like. |

James Ellroy shopping LA Confidential television series - Deadline
This should most assuredly be better than the Keifer Sutherland-led pilot that is included on the blu, if picked up. I hope they sift through other storylines though, as the film's plot more than stands on its own. And given Ellroy's propensity for sprawl, the television medium could yield intriguing results. |

Ellroy is supposed to be working on a second LA quartet, set during World War 2. The first book, Perfidia, is supposed to be issued this year. I hope to god its better than Blood's A Rover, which was an undigestible, badly written mess.

L.A. Confidential looks sweet on Blu-ray, and it holds up to my experience of seeing the movie at a theater on the night of release. I watched the Blu-ray earlier this evening and am now going through the vast array of extras.
I had forgotten how much I used to enjoy this movie back in the late 1990s. As I revisited it tonight after going through a bunch of classic film noirs on Blu-ray over the past couple of months, I was reminded that it is one of the better neo-noirs out there. It certainly hits the right notes with the camera angles and lightning, and it's a good update for the genre. |

I rewatched this tonight and noticed something strange with the audio mix. It seems like almost all of this film was ADR? It is especially noticeable on the Dolby True mix which also seems to be a out of sync.
I checked the DD track and Netflix. The DD track on my BD and on Netflix are all in synch, but the ADR is still very noticeable. It is as if everything from dialogue to effects is recorded at the same volume. Anybody else noticed this? Well others have noticed it: http://forums.thedigitalfix.com/foru...d.php?t=511352 Last edited by kristoffer; 10-16-2016 at 09:18 PM. |
