Default School of Rock 2 coming to theaters

We previously mentioned that Mike White had finished and turned in the script for a School of Rock sequel. It sounds like Paramount Pictures liked what they saw.

According to Variety, the studio is moving forward with the sequel that has Jack Black attached to reprise his role as rock star wannabe/substitute teacher Dewey Finn. Richard Linklater is attached to direct again, and Scott Rudin is returning as producer.

The follow-up,titled School of Rock 2: America Rocks, picks up with Finn leading a group of summer school students on a cross-country field trip that delves into the history of rock 'n' roll and explores the roots of blues, rap, country and other genres.

The original was a box office hit for the studio, costing just $30 million to make and earning $131 million worldwide.

First one was alright... no need to revisit it in a sequel though. We'll see what happens with the hype surrounding this when a trailer is released.

I almost fell asleep trying to watch the original, so I very much doubt I'll be checking into this.

I enjoyed the first, which is shocking considering I usually don't like kids in movies and this one was full of em!

but Jack Black really held it down, thought it was a great family movie.

Surprised to see a sequel but not dissapointed. hopefully it'll be as good if not better.

I love this movie. The key to this one's success was the kids. The differences between them all and how this story revolved around, not just music, but good ole Rock n' Roll is what made this family flick enjoyable. If they can get close to retaining the energy, excitement, and humor from the 1st, this one too will be a hit!!

The first one was OK for a watch or two, but this strikes me as the kind of a sequel that could be a disaster...
