first off that thing that keeps getting thrown around about Mr. Reese= mysteries is the dumbest thing that i have heard. Nolan is not going to take a character from the comics change his name, apperance, and everything and expect people to accept it. secondly forget dent cause i think eckhart is going to either take the captain america job or go after the green latern movie that he wants to do (look on ign.com for that article i do not have a link at this time). as for bad guys for the 3rd (which this thread is about not imax or the dark knight) i like the riddler and mad hatter. those are just my picks. the guy who said, harley quinn probably not going to happen because i do not think that this joker could have a girlfriend dude was insane son just insane. anyway one guy that i would really like to see but wouldnt work in nolan's universe Mr. Freeze. i really hate that the last image of that classic icon is the govenator's horrible take on him.

Are you bashing the Arnold? It wasn't his fault the movie sucked and was totally cartoony. Maybe they could do Mr.Freeze, just someone as crazy as the Joker, but is obsessed with Ice, I don't know. I don't know DC comics that well so I can't give any suggestions.

Also, I
[Show spoiler]don't think Harvey Dent is dead, I think he is just injured badly, and is being kept somewhere. His character was developed too much for him to be killed off so fast. I am also sad there will not be Joker in the next, if there is one, because Heath did such a great job with him. Sad he died.

As someone not particularly loyal to the specifics of the comic books, if I was to write Mr. Freeze I would make it No Country For Old Men with liquid nitrogen.

A lot of the ideas I'm seeing are about what the comic lovers want, but remember that a third movie will have to do its best to meet if not surpass TDK. Picking a comic villian 80% of TDK viewers never heard of is a quick way to make it pale in comparison to TDK. That's why I think the Riddler (I'd prefer Depp), Penguin (Hoffman), or some other known character re imagined would be the best choice.

[Show spoiler]PS. The whole Two Face isn't dead debate, I'm sorry, but to the non comic book nut he's dead. Bringing him back would be an incredible cop out and would completely devalue TDK post mortem, it's like a movie or series that runs a fantastic plot line, then tells you it's a dream. It's a stupid mechanic and a dumb idea.

Honestly, after seeing The Dark Knight I think everyone should just go ahead and prepare themselves because I honestly don't think they could possibly make a batman movie any better and no one could portray a villain any better. So I think it's safe to say that regardless of who plays what villain in the next movie, it will be all downhill from TDK because that cannot be improved upon!

And the exact reason you state is why Empire Strikes Back is the best of the Star Wars films and why Dark Knight is as good as it is. Why do we need nice, tidy endings? I prefer things that are more ambiguous.

[Show spoiler]It was not Falcone in the car with Dent. Falcone is in Arkham. It was Sal Maroni.

Did Maroni have a limp when he got into the car. Batman did break his ankles.

Batman told Harvey he was wasting time trying to get information from Tetch about the Joker's location. This happened after the mayor's failed assassination attempt when Batman lectured Harvey about not compromising his morals. The scene ends when Batman says he will turn himself in at tomorrow's press conference to bow down to the Joker's demands. Harvey responds by yelling, "don't do it!"

Yes he did, he had a cane with him. But can we assume that he died in the crash? I think it works well for the revenge plot and also the character can be scrapped from the next one.

I saw TDK twice now and I noticed something.

In the IMAX screening, I specifically saw the
[Show spoiler] bat tumbler self destruct after the batpod ejected
. In the non-IMAX screening, the
[Show spoiler] bat tumbler did not self-destruct after the pod ejected
.

Anyone else notice that?

That guy was not Tetch. His name was Thomas Schiff.

i have to agree with this. the idea that comic book stories are juvenile is rather silly. if you haven't read comic books than i could understand one saying that, but they are not juvenile. comic books have always had some excellent stories in them. batman year one comes to mind. as does messiah complex and civil war. comics are not for kids anymore.

I keep going back to Goyer and Nolan being influenced by the graphic novel Dark Victory,
[Show spoiler]Two-Face is not dead.

Also, Birdman, are you familiar with the character at all?

Just going out on a limb....Anyone think since ledger died in real life..and the joker
[Show spoiler]didnt die in the movie
And we never actually saw rachel die....maybe there was some behind the scenes stuff that went on...like how joker talked to dent to get him crazy....maybe rachel comes in as harley quinn..taking jokers place...and maybe she thinks batman went to save dent instead of her?? jokers influence...she could be a side villian...but still......wait....no that does sound stupid never mind...

riddler it is!!!!!!

Two-Face is two people in one body.
[Show spoiler]The idea is that Harvey Dent died, but Two-Face is left alive, and now in control. That makes him very dangerous because he only uses the coin flip if he doesn't know if the person deserves to be shot.
Two-Face can easily care at least half of a movie. Two-Face is one of the best (my personal favorite) member of the rogues gallery.

Just recast the Joker with another really good young actor.

Just because Nolan was influenced by Dark Victory, The Long Halloween and other works doesn't mean he took EVERYTHING from it. The demise of the character can be Nolan's own work. Besides, his character did what he usually does,
[Show spoiler] he flipped a coin and decided if they would live or die by his gun
. I don't really see this being developed further when they can change the villain.
