Default Ghostbusters 3 - Featuring Apatow's Boys?

A live action GB3 has been in the works for a while now. Now the rumors are Apatow's boys will be "Ghostbusters-in-training".

Done right could be interesting. At least they will have the original guys in there if it happens.

The ghostbusters in training thing was something they'd discussed quite a while ago. I would probably still see it, and I'm sure it would still be interesting.

Can pretty much guarantee Bill wouldn't be in it though, which would be a MAJOR disappointment.

I thought Bill Murray wouldn't do it unless it was CG

...I wouldn't complain about this though, as long as the original guys came back to train them, hehe.

I think they could pull this off and it would be fantastic. It would be a great cast as well. I also think it could bring in a whole new generation of Ghostbusters fans.

They can put one in a wheelchair and call it the extreme ghostbusters.

The "training" script (which had already written Murray and Ernie Hudson's characters out of the story from the start) was eventually tailored for Chris Tucker and Chris Farley, who later turned out to be unavailable for filming.

That seemed to be the main reason Dan Aykroyd let his script retire, claimed "no more 3", and Ivan Reitman took a few of the gags and retooled them into "Evolution"--
If Aykroyd's still producing, there's not much hope, but if Rogen is still on his project-hogging "I can make anything funny!" Green Hornet high of buying up everyone else's scripts at a fire sale and planning to produce himself in it, doesn't look like there's much Aykroyd can do about stopping him.
Dan, however, has our full support.

According to gaming news, Murray agreed to come back to voice the 25th-anniversary videogames, the only official no-show was...Rick Moranis.
Who seems to have happily retired from acting on profits from the "Honey..." series, and hasn't been seen onscreen since.

(As for movies, however, the silver-fox Murray now seems to have retired from comedy, and is now interested only in Quirky Indie Drama--
Any attempts to ask him back onscreen would only be lost in translation. )

Ya. That's what I had heard too and why I was saying Bill probably wouldn't be there. Would be nice if he made at least a brief cameo though.

I would check it out for sure, these boys could pull it off if directed the right way.

Completely agree. I think it would be great. Ramis would for sure return, he is an apatow boy. And really what has Akroyd and Hudson done lately. I think they should definitely try to get Murray. However I think a new crew in training would be great. I can Already see Steve Carell, John C Reilly, Will Ferell, and Romany Malco in the suits. That is just a dream cast not the actual way it would work out.

I've heard various rumors about a Ghostbusters 3 film for years now.

Hm We'll see if this actually becomes something other then 'talks.'

This is a breakthrough to be honest, all other rumors have been just that, but this actually sounds promising.

Any rumors about all of the guys returning I would be curious about but with a newer cast, I could see that happening.

I thought the Ghostbusters game (currently on Activision's chopping block) was in essence the third Ghostbusters movie since they never got it off the ground. I would be interesting in a new movie.

And what is this about Bill not able to do it unless it is CG? What did I miss???

Everytime Bill Murray has been asked to do a third Ghostbusters movie he has declined, but the rest of the guys would probably do it.

I've seen a video of Akroyd saying it probably wouldn't happen.

I was just wondering why CG would make a huge differance to Bill. Would he supply the voice work for a film but not spend the time to be in a live action one?

Well, not to point out the obvious, but their all a little older now and he probably just doesn't feel he can put up as good of a performance as he did in the first 2 movies.

That's just one opinion, though. It could be for a whole different reason.

I wonder if its because he can show up and record dialog for 2 weeks and be done instead of shooting a full schedule and get the same paycheck.

I find this hard to believe, as Akroyd has said on numerous occasions over the last few months (with all the hype surrounding the now-delayed...again...video game and blu releases of G1 and G2) that there will not be a live action G3 (he never confirmed a CG film either, but hinted towards it being a possibility). He owns the rights to the franchise, I do believe, so I think the only way this story would be viable is if HE was the mystery source. Otherwise, I'll take this news with a grain of salt.
