Default X-files collection coming to Blu-Ray???

I'm wondering if they are going to release all the episodes on Blu-Ray? I wanted to buy the complete collection on DVD, then i said to myself i'll wait a bit since they are going to release the movie on Blu-Ray around Christmas (Probably) and maybe they'll release the episodes on Blu-Ray like they do most of the time to promote the movie coming out...

Anyone as some info on this? Or i should not wait and buy the DVD now cuz i'm going to have to wait a long time before they go blu..?

I Heard not for a long time if ever. The movies are a yes for Blu Ray but not the show at this time. And when it does come to Blu Ray it is not gonna be cheap either.

There are no plans at all so it will be a while.
Be careful when buying the dvd sets if you care about bonus features, because there is a version with alot of extras and then there are the slim sets with hardly any extras but cheaper.

Honestly I don't need all of the extras. I just want to see all of the episodes in one set. I don't even need the movies, as I'll definitely be buying them on blu-ray (one day.....)

It will be coming to Blu-ray in some form eventually. But can you wait three years or four years? This is one of Fox's key home video properties from its television library. I guarantee this or my name isn't Clark Kent.

I picked up the individual seasons a few years ago at Best Buy. They are the ones that have the slim, clear dvd cases. Love those things. They were slowly switching over to the digi pack cardboard crap and I went in one time and nearly fainted because that was all I could find. Luckily I asked and they found some more regular ones for me.

Would be nice to have on blu, but don't see that happening for a very long time if ever.

You ever heard the expression "You can't draw blood from a turnip"?

Thats essentially what you have here. Someone around here brought this up awhile back and someone told that like up to season like 5 or 6 think it was it was shot on like a betamax camera or maybe thats not the "official" term for the camera but its pretty much a tape that was standard definition. So not to rain on anyone's parade but if you EVER get a blu ray of the show its FAKE........... now keep in mind the big boys have up convertors that look QUITE a bit better then whats in the consumer dvd players we can buy......The folks over at TNT do it to us everynight on dish network lol.... The bottom line I think is that anything made on FILM can be remastered into HD.........Thats simply because film is analogue and has no set resolution........no pixels though a website once drew a comparison that it would possess something like 10 million pixels if a film grain could equal a pixel.............however........... There exist a point where the HUMAN mind cannot discern between film resolution and digital HD.... truth be told we are about there now with blu-ray..........24 bit 96khz audio is at that point I believe and here's why............The CD industry chose 16 bit 44khz for a REASON............ reason being was you half the sampling frequency 22khz and you have the effective range before it gets F'ed up..(the human range of hearing tops out at 20khz). However some critics always stated digital was "cold" or "harsh" like the debate in guitar amps of analogue tube amps VS solid state digital amps...BUT @ 24 bits the step ladder is even more smooth like an analogue wave just like a 1080i picture and 96khz MEANS its like a camera taking 96000 snapshots per second of the sound which are later played back in order like a filmstrip to create sounds and music which you recognize.... Digital Audio 101 pz

The X-Files wasn't shot on videotape (except for the season 7 episode X-Cops which was purposefully done so it'd look like an episode of "Cops"), if it was it'd look like a cheap British soap. It was all shot on film, and if the film materials are still available then it can be re-mastered in HD and released on Blu. X-Cops might end up being an upscale, but the rest would still look great. I believe some of the earlier seasons were shot in 16mm, but even that will have much more resolution than DVD.

after fox left skully around 7 or 8 some of the Eps IMO got boring. like the one with "Burt Reynolds" was dull I could not watch the full Ep. but near the end the last few got good again and the last show was cool.

If the show does hit Blu-Ray I will wait till the season box sets are 40 bucks or less each. too bad the first few seasons will be Pan&Scan 4.3

I iimported a set with japanese writing in American that plays awesome. Its the whole series and is like 100 disks haha but I think a few of them are flipped. I'd buy it on blu but after season 6 or 7 the show got real shaky. Plus itd be like 200 bucks atleast.....

That's weird. I bought the complete series collectors edition a few months back from amazon and I only paid $150 which at the time was the cheapest around and the set is awesome. The only issue is that it does not fit nicely in may dvd wall shelf.
