Default We know about releases too soon in my opinion!

Am I the only one who believes we know about release dates too early? Was it 2 or 3 months Transformers, Sleeping Beauty and Ironman had their release dates publicly known? It seems like freaking ages. I preordered Transformers what seems like 2 years ago and I still am waiting.

Luckily, some UK titles have only come to my attention recently and have already been released which helps the pain. You USA guys are far too quick off the mark and personally I don't think there is a need for it.

One month is more than enough to pre-order a title in question and get the buzz going. 3 or 4 months is just too much waiting for me.

I agree. It may sound silly, but it's kinda overwhelming for me. I mean I'm dreading the month of September because I may have to resort to selling my body. Now I'm looking at what's coming in October, and it's also shaping up to have some huge releases. Then if that's not enough, more November titles are showing up!! I'm kinda grateful that August doesn't have a lot of titles I want. I also agree that it is too long of a wait. I'd rather have the movie announcements 1 month before at the max.

i think its better this way just so we dont have to have people keep asking like when Transformers will be coming out or the Matrix, etc. Im glad that they mentioned they will come out to blu-ray that way dont have to have so many threads for them but for the movies i want i can wait its the ones that havent been announced yet are ones that i want

It's never too soon. It's all about having priorities. If you can only afford one US$30 movie a month, you have to plan your purchases ahead. Buy movies with repeat-viewing values, especially when you're in a tight budget. It's not about having it all. It's about loving what you got.

For those who can afford to buy more, good for them.

Knowing that movies are coming out months in advance is a good thing imo. First, it gives people time to save up, especially if there are many titles scheduled for release during one particular month(i.e. sept 2008). Second as someone mentioned, it will stop having people ask about when certain movies will be released.

I'd rather know ahead of time so I can save money and sell off my DVD copies. Day of theatrical release would do just fine!

I wish they would put the movie out the day it hits theaters. Seeing as blu-ray looks better than any theater I've been too lately (except for maybe the IMAX screening of Dark Knight I went to), I would just rather buy the blu-ray instead of waiting four or five months for the theatrical run to end. I know it won't ever happen, because of box office money, but in my perfect world, that would be the way it worked.

I am with you on this, I still have over 800 DVD that I have been selling off as the BD is announced, I like have the time to do this in advance.

The fact is that people like me have pre-orders unfulfilled for 3 or 4 months. I don't care about money as I only spend about 30 or 40% of my salary each month.

I've had Transformers on PO for 3 months, Kill bill pack 2 months and sometimes I even forget which site I ordered them from .

Oh well, seems you guys have financial reasons to get word early, but its still too soon as it stands and I doubt you would lose that much money on a DVD.

For the most part the problem has to do with the fact that there are so many people on here with inside "sources" that gives rumors of release date rumors a year ahead of time and we all drool and cheer in excitement. Normal people hear about movies being released in a reasonable time.

Think about it, the Dark Knight blu ray release date thread was opened before the movie came out. Too many sources.
