Blu-ray Prince

since this was shot waaay back in 1991 with prototype HD cameras this should look great if and when it gets a bluray release.
I honestly don't get why Greenaway gets the disservice he gets in terms of video releases. You'd think that his own country's British Film Institute would put out definitive video releases of his films: Tulse Luper Trilogy (also shot in HiDef) The Baby of Macon |

Exactly. At least 'Baby Of Macon' can be excused for not being on DVD, since the film had no potential US distributors--the material was far too extreme, it seemed, for Americans.
But 'Prospero's Books' should've been released on DVD ages ago! It's owned by Miramax! |

Still prefer The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover. After that he started to appear as a one trick pony, especially with the looooooong shots, I lost interest, I lost complete interest after seeing The Pillow Book. Although Lumiere & Co, released prior I did like.
It would be interesting to see Prospero's Books on blu though. At least once. |

I truly think he might have the most cohesive and interesting body of work of any living major filmmaker. Prospero confounded me when I first saw it, but watching it again as an adult (and in 35mm) made me really appreciate how he tried to turn cinema and literature into a hypertext chimera. He’s so insanely ambitious and has truly created a universe that is wholly his own |
