Lossless Audio in PS3 games? - Blu-ray Forum

Im not sure if people have brought this up before, but I was just at PAX, and I kept thinking, why dont the big AAA PS3 titles have HD audio as an option. I understand its not feasible or necessary for all games , but games like Uncharted and Resistance seem like no brainers. Just sayin.

Both those games and more have lossless 7.1 audio.

I think KojiPro used LPCM 5.1 but don't quote me on that.

I think it was Dolby 5.1... I remember there being a discussion about how the audio couldn't have been LPCM because of the size it would have taken up.

Sounded great though IMO.

they dont say it on the box but its been proven that they do have pcm audio.

sorry guys. audio noob. i have a reciever capable of receiving all the lossless formats ( i know the PS3 decodes and sends it PCM), but ive never seen it promoted anywhere.

PCM is audio in it's purest form. As such, there's no codec logo for it.

MGS4 is PCM 7.1 according to my receiver. My PS3 games that use Dolby Digital show it as such on the receiver as well.
