What was Toshiba and Microsoft thinking? Even Sony’s Betamax lasted longer than this advanced video and computer format. While arguably as good or better than Blu-ray DVD, how could these company’s stick the public with a system that was almost dead from the start and for $400 to $600, too. Reportedly Microsoft bullied its way with some of the CE makers who agreed to the format, but never signed up enough movie companies and released the format hoping that computer company’s would help force the issue. Is there going to be a giant rebate...I don’t think so.

A 24k GOLD HDTV entertainment system. In my opinion the BIGGEST waste of money AND gold. Will they support and fix this thing for the next 50 years? Such extravagant waste it is sickning.

I actually saw those Flexplay movies at Staples. Talk about waste. They deteriate within 48 hours and become unplayable from the Oxygen in the air. Just more cyber trash. Now what happens if you open the disc and give both sides a nice coating of silicone spray first?

Well, you if they are mentioning Denon's HDMI calbe because it's so expensive, they should have included all the companies that overcharge for HDMI cables (Monster, I'm looking directly at you).

The fact that 8 people bought the I Am Rich app make it one of the most successful products. The overhead had to be pretty low, it probably cost near nothing to make but gained tons of profit.

ROFL. Great list. The Denon cable is definitely a head scratcher. The game reviews were hilarious.

"Overpriced cables are nothing new in the A/V world, but one of this years biggest offenders is Denon and their AK-DL1. The product is sold in a 1.5-meter (59 inches) bundle, for the cool, completely insane price of $499. The company says it’s made of high-purity copper wire and high-performance connection parts. It could have fairy dust and ground-up unicorn horns, but we don’t care. Denon says that the product was designed for the “audio enthusiast.” Network World says this description is “Denonese for ‘sucker.’” Ha!"

ROFL!!!

Top it off with some Monster cables and you got a perfect cluster f***!

Very fond of polished copper myself. Brassy things too, but mostly copper.

HDMI cables are the bigges scam out thier in the a/v world. What I find even funnier is when those people who spent ridiculous amounts of money on buying HDMI cables try to defend thier purchase when they know they were ripped off instead of going to monoprice.com and buying them for super, super cheap. IMO anyone who spends more than $20 on a HDMI cable are ripping themselves off.
