Default Help me with HDTV purchase suggestions

I am seriously considering taking advantage of the Best Buy 3 year 0% interest ad. We purchased a PS3 last xmas and haven't put it to full use with an HDTV. I am looking for something in the 40-50 inch range, LCD, 1080p, with at least 3 HDMI inputs. Does anybody have suggestions in the $2K range? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd stay with a Sony. Good resale value down the road.

Why LCD only? Why not look at plasmas as well? I was in the same boat and got a 42" LCD. I'm happy with it, but I suspect that the 3:2 pulldown judder may drive me insane some day.

I'd recommend if you're dead set on LCD's to look at ones that have 120hz or 24hz output and can do a true 1:1 pulldown where there is no judder.

Not really dead set, but I have two reasons:
1: The location I'm planning on keeping the HDTV is fairly well lit during the daylight hours. I understand that Plasma is better for a darker environment. Is that true?
2: Plasma TV's use much more electricity (much of it in heat loss) which is something I am trying to avoid if possible.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I love my Samsung 46LNA550. It doesn't have the 120hz capabilities, but from what I've heard, Samsung didn't do that one correctly.

You should be able to get it really cheap, as it's a few models back.

Sony's another option, but not for the resale value. Are you really going to sell your TV?

Here's the model I bought

I got it for $1400 by bringing them an ad from Abes of Maine. It's currently listed for $1378 here.

The salesman originally argued that they only match prices from LOCAL stores. So I responded "Well, if you want to go through all the trouble of having that item shipped from your store in Woodbridge, NJ (about a 7 minute drive from Abes of Maine's store in New Jersey), be my guest."

The salesman asked his manager, and the manager said no problem. They matched the price on the spot for me.

I love my Samsung 4669 LCD. If I had a little bit more to spend at the time, I would have gotten a plasma instead however.

Thanks for the help. I will stop at Best Buy this Saturday and take a look.

I purchased an LG 42" LCD from Best Buy last Christmas. Has everything you are looking for, and well within your price range.
