OK. So here's the deal (again, as i'm sure most of you have heard this before) I can't get an IP address with my PS3. It has a wired connection directly into my modem.
I've already turned the PS3 off and unplugged the router then hooked it all back up (more than once) and nothing's happened. What should I do? Also, I don't have a PC so I can't look up the IP address on there and I have NO clue how to do it on a mac. |

Nope. No luck.
How do I input the ip address manually and go from there? I can input it but not move forward. Just back. If I want to move forward I have to go to automatic IP setting. Doesn't that just over-ride the manual input and just keep me in a non-working loop? |

This may not be the right fix for your situation, but here you go:
1.) Unplug modem 2.) Disconnect ethernet cord from your Mac 3.) Let the modem stay unpowered for about 30 min 4.) Connect ethernet cord to PS3 5.) Plug in modem I have no idea if a router can be "fixed" like a modem can. ![]() Hope this helps. |

Don't do manual. Use the automatic feature.
Also let it sit for 30 min unplugged. You responded 10min after I posted that so I'm going to guess you didn't leave it unplugged for the full 30. ![]() I use a wired connection to my PS3 and you have to let the modem "let go" of the old IP address before you can use it for your PC and vice versa. Just let it sit unplugged. |

Can you list your hardware (router brand, model, and as well modem brand and model. I might be able to help you. Also on your apple can you go to system preferences and click network in there choose ethernet and then look at for your IP address, DNS server and Router IP.
