Actually it's the script and casting that bothers me the most ... the failed piccolo is just the icing on the rotten cake.

Just a small observation. I never really got into Dragon Ball, but I think as far as fan bases go DB by far has the most devoted(rabid). Wouldn't that mean you would at least want to get the look of the characters right. I understand you can't please everyone, but if the guy is green is it that hard to make him green? Marsters probably sat for 3-4 hours for that make-up what would another 10 minutes in a spray booth matter? I know quite a few people who are getting more pissed off with every leak of info from this movie, I hope for the sake of the people involved they pull it off.

i was such a gigantic fan of DBZ growing up, i highly doubt they'll be able to put up a good live action movie, i mean how in the freakin world are they going to pull off the fight scenes? This movie is going to be BAD but will i see it? probably....

For me it's not about Piccolo being yellow or green or gray for all I care ... it's about the movie completely straying away from the original material. DeeChizzle already summed up some good points.

Son Gokuu can never be portrayed decently by a caucasion actor. It's like letting Jet Li play King Arthur ... it just doesn't add up and takes away any and all credibility of the character.

I've been a fan of Dragon Ball ever since it first aired back in the '80s and I just don't find a shred of the original feeling back in this movie. Dragon Ball was inspired by Chinese tale of the Monkey King and that was a very strong influence throughout the series, mostly at the beginning. I don't find any of that in this movie.

I think I'll stick to the old Japanese Saiyuuki TV drama series if I want to see REAL Son Gokuu.

It's just sickening how Hollywood plays the 'caucasian superiority' card in a movie that demands the exact opposite. This movie should have had a virtually all Asian cast. It might turn out to be a spectacular action movie, but it won't be Dragon Ball.

Exactly. The movie hasn't even gone into post-production yet either. For all we know, they could end up digitally painting him green. Because I'm such a huge DBZ fan, I have to go see this movie no matter how bad it turns out.

Yeah you are probably right about that. Watching that crappy trailer reminded me of the forbidden kingdom for some reason. I guess its because its a white kid mixed in with a bunch of asian people.

And Master Roshi looks like the Token Kung Fu Sensei and not the dirty old man he's supposed to be. At least give him a beard!. Why do they do this? I thought Hollywood learned its lesson about making comic-to-movie translations and how it's better to stay true to the origin.

Somehow, Hollywood can't get it through their thick skulls that audiences can and will accept an asian lead character, even if the target demographic are kids. Why they keep clinging to this caucasion-supremist views is beyond me.

Besides, a Dragon Ball movie does indeed need characters like Kuririn, Oolong, Poal, Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Chaoz and Kame-sennin. Especially for a first movie, they need to have these characters in there. Heck, for all I care, they can throw in Tao-pai-pai.

Putting the setting in high school is also one of the humongous mistakes they've made. What's wrong with Son Gokuu being an illiterate martial artist living in country side? He is based on the character of the monkey king after all.

By the way, who is Master Roshi? I'm not familiar with that character.

Kame Sennin = Master Roshi...its just the name they use in the English dubs.

played by Chow Yun Fat in the movie....and they screwed up the character design royally.
