The book Band of Brothers is a great read as well. I highly recommend it for those who want to know more about the soldiers of Easy Company.

I was wondering what's the special features of BoB.

There were 2 options in special features, In the fields of xxx, in the words of xxx. I tried both, and I can't find any difference with the main films. Did I miss anything?

What player do you have? I read that 'In The Words of Easy Company' didn't work on older 1.0 profile machines because they don't support PIP. Some of the stuff in the Interactive Timeline is also PIP, so that one may not work either.

It's a PS3。I saw the interactive timeline, but I don't know how to "interactive" with it. the movie did play pass the icons, no specials pop up.

I have yet to see an upconvert look close to hd. Big difference between dvd and Bluray.

OK, I have a PS3 too. I experimented a little with the interactive timeline and it worked fine. Just above the timeline on the left there are is an on/off mode for the interactivity. If OFF, it will pop up the info without you taking any action. If ON, when the little box that moves along the timeline comes to an icon, you press X on the PS3 controller to bring up the info when the box is on the icon. As for the PIP commentary with the Easy Company veterans, the PIP window is not displayed all the time, so if you just scanned through it you probably just missed the spots where they appear.

I finally finished BOB...it was a blind buy for me. I always wanted to see it but never got around to finishing it. I think I stopped around episode 3. I was impressed! Great addition to the collection and I love the tin!

For those that have it on blu, is it just me, or is there ALOT of grain? Sometimes it looked awful. But...a lot of times it looked really great. I'll get to the special features another time. I thought the actor who portrayed Winters was really good. Loved the last episode when schwimmer gave him the salute...it was classic. I guess he managed to skip combat.

it's not just you. There's alot of grain, especially in night scenes and most of the intense battle sequences. I think the look is suited well for the material at hand.

...minus the poor, cliched characters, spotty performances, fetid dialogue, and simple-minded Manichaean world-view of Saving Private Ryan. Band of Brothers is excellent, and everything SPR should have been.

Default Price in Canada

I'm very keen on picking this one up. I have only seen some of the episodes. The price here in Canada at Best Buy is a whopping $93 !!!!!! Ouch!

It would be hard to top BoB, but there was some crazy action in the pacific theater during WWII as well: Midway, the battle of Guadalcanal, all the Jima's.
you forgot Pearl Harbor with Ben Affleck! Hahahahahaha I think I just pissed my pants

LOL I think we're all trying to forget that one. Kate Beckinsale was hot though.

Too bad she won't be in anymore Underworld flicks

Band of Brothers has some things going for it and some not:

1. It's well acted, largely historically accurate and based on a true story . The book is highly recommended.
2. Battles are shot in the same jerky Robert Capa-esque fashion as SPR - deliberately sped up and choppy.
3. It's very episodic. Some episodes feel padded out to slice them up into neat parcels.
4. Some of the effects are extremely cheap looking. The parachute drop over Normandy is the worst.
5. Battles are less well choreographed than Saving Private Ryan and a certain amount of "battle fatigue" might set in as the Capa style photography becomes a little bit tiresome.

I don't think it's an either / or situation. Buy both, assuming SPR appears some day in HD.
