Firstly, Band of Brothers is right up there with Star Wars in terms of most-discussed unannounced eventual BD releases.

Secondly, of course it'll happen...it's a cash cow for HBO. Watch them charge $150 for it.

There is a thread in the HD DVD software forum at AVS that has comparison screen shots of the Band of Brothers DVD and a BoB HD DVD release in Japan. There is quite a bit more detail in the HD version. I'm sure I'll double dip when it hits Blu-ray.

Not to nitpick, but D-Day anniversary is every year. That's why it's an anniversary.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw it before Christmas.

65th anniversary. The 5 year ones get the most attention

^^
And on that day, we'll see Saving Private Ryan on BD.

Just like they did a 60th Anniversary DVD back in '04.

I'm wondering if they will release the Blu-ray of BoB to coincide with the television release of "The Pacific".

Those are pending release dates, up in the air. Won't be coming out now on HD-DVD, but those a good sign we'll see it on Blu. Can't wait!

B of B is on one of the HD channels (wowow) this weekend (right now) in Japan. I checked out the first part of #2, "Day of Days" and can only say how incredible this looks and sounds! I have the dvd and would jump on the blu version in a moments notice when it comes out.

Saving Private Ryan is on now (some hours later) and it also looks stunning in HD. Can't wait for these to hit blu.
