I have noticed that regular HDTV being provided through my cable box actually looks better then my PS3 playing Blu Ray discs. I didn't really notice it until I saw Step Brothers on my Blu Ray setup last night.
My TV is a 50" Samsung (2 years old now) and yes it is 1080p. I am not sure if there are any pertinent settings to modify other then the output settings. And I am not even sure how many settings there are to even modify. It's quite frustrating because "Live Free or Die Hard" on HDTV looked much better then Step Bros on Blu Ray. It is a little confusing to me and I was wondering if anyone could shine some light on the situation please. |

AS is most of the Apatow directed/produced/has anything to do with, films.
But I'm in most ways like the OP...I actually prefer the HD cable to my blu-ray. I find that medium more palatable to my eyes. Yes I know it's compressed, blah blah blah <FART>. ![]() |

I realize that Step Bros really isn't the greatest quality of video ever made. But it's really weird how HDTV looks better then Blu Ray? I was wondering if it's a setting that I haven't checked yet.
And even movies like Spider Man 3, Ride of the Silver Surfer, Pirates of the Carribean(sp?), don't look as good as it does on TV. |

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but it does output via composite and component cables as well. The PS3 comes standard with composite cables, in fact (unforunately).
But if you are using HDMI, then I'd try to calibrate your TV setting specifically for your PS3 set up. Picture will look different between your cable box and PS3, but Blu-ray will look better if under the right settings. What specifically looks wrong with the picture? |

Yes, it's set for 1080p.
No I did not mess with my TV settings for trying to get a better picture. And sorry, did not realize it came with cables. hahahah Whoops. But yes, it is using HDMI. You can see tiny flickering in the background. Like a lot of noise almost. It's not always there. It makes everyone look like they have freckles, but they move a lot. |
