So, a slipcover, a DTS track and a possible remaster, no additional extras?

If it's around $10 when it drops, I'll pick it up.

I'll happily double dip on a remaster if this indeed turns out to have one.

Would get for 4k remaster, not for anything else. Would probably wait to see if it came to UHD anyway too.

I too would love a 4K UHD of this but I'm figuring 20th Century Fox will not like they did when they released the remastered HEAT on bluray.

Why are people thinking this is a remaster?

One of my favorite films, but the current release is just fine. No remaster, no sale.

I presume it's because the old version was released by Warner Brothers and featured a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack. This Anniversary version is being released by Fox and features a DTS HD-MA soundtrack. Different sound codec, so possibly a different film transfer too.

Without an announced remaster then the best you can expect is a new encode, not a brand new film transfer a la Heat. I bought the Fox euro edition of JFK for the ever so slightly better encode but if the people who compressed the new Heat are being let loose on LA Confidential (presuming it's a fresh encode) then they can keep it.

And the possibility of removing the Warner logo.

It comes from a deep desire to have our favorite films be improved upon with each successive release. I know, it's a fantasy in this day and age but there you have it.

Remaster or not, I highly recommend anyone who hasn't watched it yet to pick this up. It's not only one of the better films of the 90s, but one of my all-time favorites.

This release sounds like a catalog dump, if it hasn't been remastered.
