Default Audio setup/help please!

Hello Audiophiles, I need your expert opinions! I am not a sound guru but I want decent sound. Someone recommended the configuration below and I want your opinions for me. Currently I have a Yamaha Receiver (don't know the model #, and am in the process of moving so it's packed in a box) and I am using the 5.1 input. Also (shamefully) I am using a computer sub cause mine died. would I be better off keeping my existing receiver and buying a good sub, or just getting the whole system I have listed below. (I have found this system for $406.00). Please advise! I am on a $400.00 budget, so I know my options are limited.

Onkyo 606 (recertified)
Dayton 5.1 w/8 sub

I would say what receiver you have now depends a lot on what to do regarding purchasing a new receiver. If you could find out, that would be great. It would also be useful to know what player you are using to know if you'll need decoding of HD audio or not, which would be a reason to purchase the 606 (unless your current receiver does it already, but I doubt it.) For speakers, I would recommend starting with a 2.0/2.1 system with your limited budget, and move on to 5.0/.1 when you get more money. If you are wanting a 5.1 system, go with the system that driver king recommends...https://forum.blu-ray.com/member.php?u=19431

The Kenwood is a little long in the tooth. So buying the dayton 5.1 and Onkyo combo would be a good combo. (I would like to see what the Dayton 5.1 looks like - could you give me a link?).

Check partsexpress.com, that's where they sell them. Look pretty similar to the Polk RM setups.
