PS3 Audio help - Blu-ray Forum

I am wondering if someone can help me. I have my PS3 hooked up to my HDTV via HDMI. So obviously the sound is transferred to my TV this way. But I also have a set of Dolby Digital/DTS headphones, which use Digital Out. Now I can't seem to use my headphones, and also have the sound coming out of the tv at the same time (say I wanna use my headphones and my wife wants to watch also, but through the tv sound). The setting on the PS3 for audio out only lets me choose one of the other. Am I stuck ith this or is there a way around it.

you need to have your optical out going to another device that is not your tv. i am using hdmi to my tv and optical out to my surround sound, with this set up i can turn up the sound on either the tv or surround sound. as for your headphones, i think your stuck with either or, but i'm not 100% positive.

No, my Optical is not going to tv , but headphones own amp. Only the HDMI is to tv, but on PS3 settings, it seems to only allow one to work the audio at a time. Maybe I am stuck this way, unless a future firmware update will allow both to work at once.
