Can one submit a copy made on blu ray for broadcasting?Do tv stations have blu ray?
Can high definition be converted by tv stations to 720 P etc., for their broadcast purpose.

Generally speakng - probably not. While DVD players are common among studios and commercial facilities, it is far less likely at this time that you will find any stations that are equipped to handle HD formats beyond their own setups. If you are wondering, then you should contact a station before sending the material in.

As for conversion to 720p - I would think that if a studio is setup to read Blu-ray discs, then they are setup to perform real time scan conversion from whatever format it is sent in to another format. Heck, most players can be set to output the format they would want, which is what most stations would do. Just set the player to output 1080i or 720p always for their setup.

My guess is like av integrated said most likely very few blu-ray players or hd dvd players are in television facilities yet. I think this will change in the future but right now many things are still shot on film or using special hd format digital tapes. I think this will be the case for at least the next 5 years as the television industry is not a quick adopter and is far more interested in hands down reliability than cutting edge technology.
