They only just announced the DVD re-release for that date. So we'll see.

I agree I don't see the set being released any earlier than mid to late March.

Do we have any clue if this is going to get a boxed set release and single blu-ray releases? I might get all 4 movies but Batman and Batman Returns are priorities over the others.

Just buy it now from Amazon.co.uk. The blu-ray is region free, and no doubt the same master will be used for the eventual U.S. release.

Plus it's better to have everything on one disc instead of two.

You might not mind having UK packaging and disc printing, but I certainly do. I've seen these movies more than enough times that I can wait a little bit to get the American version with preferred packaging.

And if I really feel like it, I can just pop in the DVD and live with upscale.

Matter of opinion. Doesn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, I'd almost say that I'd prefer them to be separate if the movie is one of those ones where the movie starts without a top menu. The only thing I'd say that I absolutely do not like is double sided discs.

For those that have the UK discs and can check it...is the audio/video encode < 25G?

I'm trying to find out if they'll b e able to use the same encode on the North American BD25 2-disc set...

If not, then I'm going to order the UK versions. Leave it to Warner to f*ck this all up...

I've never been bothered by the UK packaging. I actually like the cases better.

I agree with you, however the U.S. versions haven't been announced. And there's a possibility that Warner will force us to buy the whole set, and not sell all of the films individually. They already did that to us with the Dirty Harry movies, which are available separately in the UK.

I was debating if I should wait for the US release, but at $22 it isn't that bad plus I read they might release the US as a digi book, which I don't really like.

They're all on BD-50s, TrueHD audio and all of the supplements from the 2005 special editions ported across.

I think he mean't were the main feature Audio and Video under 25 gigs. the special features could easily push it into dual layer territory being that the U.S. version is stated to be a 2 discer. 1 BD-25 and a DVD with all the special features. I think he's wondering if they are going to use the same encode or compress the audio/video a bit to make it fit into the BD-25 (in which case we would get the import instead of the U.S. release)

Sure if you prefer the second disc to be a dvd, go right ahead with the US version. To me, I see it as pointless when it easily could have been added to a BD 50 since it's all standard def content.

It's not like there arn't already Blu-Ray releases with the extras on DVD.

Blade Runner, Hellboy II, etc. Doesn't bother me.

I don't know about y'all, but I'm looking forward to owning all 4 of these films, even Batman & Robin. I wouldn't mind in the slightest if they were only available as a bundle.

Either way, announcement or not, I'm sure these films are coming. Batman makes up one of Warner Bros. most successful franchises. They'd be fools to not get these out sooner or later.

The only X factor is the chance that the American release might use a different transfer or fail to include old extras... I'm not sure what I'd do then.

I'm not familiar with the cases, but that's not really what I'm worried about. It's the insert and the art on the disc that bugs me. The insert can be overcome with fancy pants custom art and nice printing, but not a thing can be done about the disc's art, and I guess you could say I'm OCD about that sort of thing that really just doesn't matter at all.

I think I'm just weird in this regard. I like to physically swap discs when things are sufficiently reasonably separate.

And anyway, I don't mind them doing something to save a little money in production, especially when the extra content had no chance of being HD anyway.
