Default samsung LN52A650 vs HL67A750

Can I ask you guys about the picture quality of this tv compare to the samsung LN52A650 LCD? I use to have a 70 inch sony xbr rear projection tv. The picture quality was astounding on blu ray. The only back fall was its weight and it can only go up to 720p. So I manage to sell it and bought the samsung 52 inch. The picture quality was a little bit better, plus it has 4 hdmi inputs. However, I miss the big screen size to watch sports. Any of you guys that is lucky enough to own these two television could give me some opinions? I have 2 weeks left to return my tv. I tried to go to Frys to check the picture quality, but how Fry's set up the tvs make them look horrible. All the tv had bad picture quality. I had to go home and hook my blu ray player to my 650 to get the best picture. Its like frys are playing dvds not blu ray. The HL67 inch right now is about the same price I can get for the 650. The 16 inches the HL67 gives is tempting. Are the picture the same or on par with the 650?

I am also looking to buy the HL67. I went to my local frys over the weekend I thought the PQ was really good. They are selling it for $1999. You cant beat that!!!
My bro has the older 61" samsung dlp and its PQ is great.
If you have the space why not get the HL67??

I can't say I've seen the HL67A750 myself, but check out THIS owner's thread over at AVSforum. It gets a lot of positive feedback. Cnet reviewed the 61" and gave it good marks, so I would expect the 67" to perform just as good. HERE is Cnet's review. You have an excellent LCD, but I too understand the desire for the largest set one can have. I'm sure both TV's are good choices, but size is definitely an important factor to consider. I don't think I could ever downsize and be happy myself.

They are both very good TV's for their genre. Having a Sammy LCD 650 myself, I value picture quality first and foremost than size (but my room dimension also play into my decision.) It just comes down to what you value more personally, PQ or size. You will obviously give up something of the other with the TV you choose, but it really does come down to what is most important to you. Good luck!

I believe the LED DLP PQ is superior to the 650 LCD personally.

Personally, I would keep that TV, but between those two, the HL67A750 is a far better value than the LN52A650, owning a Samsung DLP myself (see below) and seeing many improvements on that model, I would rather buy two models instead of buying the LCD, (But I may think about buying the LED backlit LN55A950 though.)

Well, I love this set. It replaced a 56" JVC rear projection that had a Light Engine failure. Great black level and contrast. Fewer moving parts than standard dlp, so hopefully it will have a lower failure rate. Compared to my XBR2 SXRD, it is a superior set. here is a link to my comparison vs my XBR2
