Default Vizio 55inch LED with 240HZ- Summer 09

What is everyone's thoughts with the price they will be selling? 2000 dollars seems like a steel. Will the black levels really be that great with the LED? Vizio seems to be getting better and better the more I look into it. Will this be a respectable television when it comes out summer 09? I want to know how they can offer this low sticker if the LED's supposedly cost so much.

Vizio 240hz? you serious? hmmm I almost bought the SVT lineup, instead went with the Samsung 630. Might need to check this 240hz when it comes out, I thought the XBR7 has 240hz

This thing sounds impressive! 55", 240HZ, 1,000,000:1 Mega
Dynamic Contrast, etc.

$2K is about my price point, and I'm thinking after tax that'll probably be what one of these will be going for......when they come out.

Do you think I should hold off on pulling the tripper on the Samsung HL61A750 ($1500.00), and spend the additional $500 on this when it comes out?

Thanks in advance

I wonder where all those people are who proclaimed them (Vizio) dead months ago.

I just saw the 55" 120hz set at the Chantilly, VA Costco....$1,800.......this is not the LED backlit set and even next to the 58" Panny Plasma it was excellent......and that's non-calibrated!

I normally buy Sony, but the new Vizio coming out this summer will be very tempting.......Sony and Samsung are going to have to do something to compete.

They can sell um cheap because LED's don't cost much! Sony & Samsung are just capitalizing on the "wow" something "new" factor...

Well!!!! I first want to say I like the design of the new Vizio I will give them that. Nice pic of it on CNET. I will wait until June to see what the reviews are on it but looks wise I am very impressed and I never thought I would say that about Vizio. Sony and Samsung might have a fight on their hands of this new Vizio is good and the price is affordable. Plus 240hz? I will be tempted but will be very wary. I got bit once by a Vizio HD tv so thats why I will wait to see what others have to say about it when it comes out. But again nice lookin HD.

I read somewhere (perhaps on this website, AVS...can't remember at the moment), but 240hz will be barely discernible from a 120hz set. This could very well be another marketing ploy to "hype" up the specs of the next generation "must have" TV. I will be curious to see it next to one of the higher end 120hz LCD's, with the motion enhancers on, to see if it provides better interpolation and PQ quality.

I warily bought a 32" Vizio almost three years ago and it's been great as a bedroom set. Once calibrated with settings found on Cnet and than tweaked with Digital Video Essentials, the PQ is excellent.

Their downfall has been black levels, but they are very good on the 32" set.

I'll take issue with the mediocre comment.

The price on this new set, if it reviews well will put tremendous pressure on both Samsung and Sony to come out with less expensive LCD LED sets and quickly.

Anyone debating getting this new Vizio should slap themselves in the face and go buy a Kuro! For $2k, you can do MUCH better than Vizio.

Could Vizio be helping Wal-Mart in their push for global domination?
(i.e. the company in Wall-E) How long until Vizio TV's are sold exclusively at Wal-Mart? Just a random thought...

I dont need a Kuro but I did slap myself for even thinking of getting a Vizio. Nothing personal for those that like Vizio's but no thanks I will stick with Sony.

Well said. Nothing personal to those if its all you can afford, but if you can afford the better TV, get the better TV, like a Sony

Same here; I own a Vizio and absolutely love it.

I can afford expensive things, I went with it based on recommendations from people in my firm.

Contrary to what Vizio-bashers like to repeat, people don't only purchase Vizios because they can't afford anything "better."

I guess you are entitled to buy what you want, but just curious, what made you choose that over a Sony or Samsung? Was it only because of price or did you feel it was a better set? I am just curious because although Vizio gets "decent" reviews, I have never seen them rated higher than the other big names.
