Talking Samsung 46" 1080p LED/LCD 8500 240hz HDTV

I just upgraded my television to this dandy of a model, the Samsung 46" 240hz 8500 HDTV. After months of viewing these in the stores and gaping at the picture, it's now in my home! This television has more features than a Saturday matinee. I'm still reading the novel-sized instruction manual and will be posting specs comments later.Does someone else have this monitor and have had it a while where they may be able to enlighten me as to the great pros and cons? This is a significant upgrade over my 720p Plasma, and I need info on all the bells and whistles.

You're absolutely correct!!
I've viewed this thing in the stores the past couple months and it's unreal that I have it in my home.
I don't know where to start with movies... I've been putting on different flicks every few minutes! I think I'm gonna pass out!

Is this one of those Sammy models that automatically dims brightness when the screen shows a dark scene? And there's no way to turn that option off?

The 8000 is the TV you mention. However some of the rhetoric about this is grossly misguided and plain false. I have this TV, and the dimming is very rare, and there is a firmware update that addresses the issue. The picture quality is very close to the 8500 from my comparison.

I was looking at these in BB yesterday ( Magnolia section) The sales guy said said Samsung was being sued for patent infringements and they were not going to produce any more 8500's until the suit was settled.

Has anyone else heard of this ?

This tv is beautiful no doubt about it and may be one of Samsungs best. I have also heard that Sammy is being sued for the patent infringement and they have halted production on the 8500 until everything is settled. Its just what I was told and heard. But again this is a beautiful tv for sure but out of my price range. Congrats to those that have one but for now my tv is good enough.

I have been keeping my eye on 55" 8000 prices and the lowest I could find was $2200. I had already given up on the 8500 since I couldn't find anyone selling it barely below $3500. What exactly did you pay for your 55" 8500 and what store did you get it from? If you got it for around $2500, I'll buy one today.

Congrats ! The set is awesome and I know you will enjoy. I was surprised on Christmas eve when a geek van pulled up with a 55" 8500 from Santa.

I have the 46' 8000 and I'm happy with it. Its way better than my 52" 7 series that I have in my living room. I've been watching Lost on bluray and the colors are amazing. I got this TV back in Junes for $1900 and I think its the Siht !!!!!!!

I wish they sold this model in Canada! I just swapped out a UN55B8000 for a 55" XBR8. To me local dimming makes a world of a difference.

I've been wanting to upgrade to this model in a 55", but what I was wondering is if the screen has the same motion blur (triple ball effect) problems my Samsun A650 has, even with the firmware update.

If you have seen the movie "Wolverine" where he's running behind a group of trees, the character almost distorted out of the picture on my A650.

I've been thinking of upgrading, but was curious about something.

Is the 240hz a noticeable upgrade over the 120hz? My current Samsung is a 120 and I've been looking at the 240's for a little while now....

I got the Samsung Led 8500 46. I got one problem with it. I got clouding on it after that i put it on the wall, with the WMN1000B wall mount. I dont think that i got clouding before when it was standing on foot. Does anyone else got clouding problems with this modell?
