great price, but you will get what you pay for. Vizio makes mediocre TV's for a good price

I warily bought a 32" Vizio almost three years ago and it's been great as a bedroom set. Once calibrated with settings found on Cnet and than tweaked with Digital Video Essentials, the PQ is excellent.

Their downfall has been black levels, but they are very good on the 32" set.

I'll take issue with the mediocre comment.

The price on this new set, if it reviews well will put tremendous pressure on both Samsung and Sony to come out with less expensive LCD LED sets and quickly.

Anyone debating getting this new Vizio should slap themselves in the face and go buy a Kuro! For $2k, you can do MUCH better than Vizio.

Could Vizio be helping Wal-Mart in their push for global domination?
(i.e. the company in Wall-E) How long until Vizio TV's are sold exclusively at Wal-Mart? Just a random thought...

That would be Olevia or Magnavox.

I dont need a Kuro but I did slap myself for even thinking of getting a Vizio. Nothing personal for those that like Vizio's but no thanks I will stick with Sony.

Well said. Nothing personal to those if its all you can afford, but if you can afford the better TV, get the better TV, like a Sony

Same here; I own a Vizio and absolutely love it.

I can afford expensive things, I went with it based on recommendations from people in my firm.

Contrary to what Vizio-bashers like to repeat, people don't only purchase Vizios because they can't afford anything "better."

I guess you are entitled to buy what you want, but just curious, what made you choose that over a Sony or Samsung? Was it only because of price or did you feel it was a better set? I am just curious because although Vizio gets "decent" reviews, I have never seen them rated higher than the other big names.

OK, well, I have to 720p vizios and a 1080p samsung all LCD's. they were all bought in 2007. I do have to say that the samsung has much better black levels, contrast, and color reproduction. In the menu screens, I have more control over the samsung to make a lot more adjustments then I do with the Vizios.

Currently I only have the samsung hooked up to HD satelite. But prior to getting the samsung (Dec. 07), I have the Vizio's(Mar. 07) hooked up to HD cable/sat, and the vizio was pretty nice looking, and at the time I was happy, but when I had $1500 land in my lap just before xmas, I ran out and dropped most of it on the samsung cause it was that much better, and I could get 1080p.

My Father-in-Law got a new Vizio SVT 42" and I do have to say that it is pretty impressive compared to my Vizios, it looks a lot better and they are getting better it seems each year. I do have to say that their HD Sat looks better then their DVD's (they don't own a BDP).

I still feel that my samsung is overall better than their Vizio, But Vizio has come along pretty well. But If I was spending equal money for the same TV's I wouldn't buy the Vizio again. But the thing is, is that you wont see the XBR7 at the $2k range, so Vizio is again going to force pricing to come down, and honestly we need to thank Vizio for that, they are like rent control.

Quite honestly, I looked at a Vizio side by side with a Sony, and the Vizio just looked better. I also have had bad experiences with Sony products (cameras, DVD players, and TVs; though, that said, I plan to give them a shot with the s550 when I pick it up). My dad and brother have a Samsung and Sony, respectively, and there's just little discernible difference between their units and the Vizio.

If there was a giant difference to MY eyes and ears (and again, this is all subjective -- although I'm sure someone will tell me that my opinion is wrong), then I wouldn't throw good money at a bad product. That just wasntt the case, to me at least.

I also think some people are tech snobs -- they like Sony because its Sony. They like Denon because its Denon, etc. (Not saying anyone here is; people here seem to be helpful and open-minded). So it's not surprising to me that you haven't seen such reviews.
