Default Buying Blu Rays From AMAZON Marketplace?

Hey, I was just looking at the prices for BDs at Amazon Marketplace and they are so cheap, and say stuff like "Sealed, BRAND New"

Has anyone bought from these seller and if they are BRAND NEW SEALED copies how can they afford to sell them for so cheap?

(Also, I'm not sure if this should be here or the Hot deals forum)

They usually just bulk-buy them directly from wholesalers and thus avoid the whole tax issue.

I bought The Fifth Element for US$11 from a MarketPlace seller and it was mint, so I can vouch for them MOSTLY being trustworthy.

There'll ALWAYS be bummholes that's for sure though...

hot deals isn't for discussions, just posting deals, so this is the correct thread to post in

as for marketplace, i buy used blurays ALL the time. one thing you should look at is the seller's rating. i generally only buy from people who have 95% or above. if it's an awesome awesome price and their rating is below 95 ill read over their feedback. the great thing about buying from amazon marketplace is that you are covered by amazon's policies. if for some reason you buy something and the seller doesn't send you the correct item or nothing at all and won't do anything about it, amazon will refund you 100%. but these experiences are very rare, so go to it!! it's a great way to buy blus cheap

I've heard of people who take used movies and wrap them to present them as new...Is this something that happens often?

I buy from Amazon all the time. But watch the rating and how many they have sold. If something goes wrong, Amazon has always help and taken care of it.

The last 10-15 BD's I've ordered have been from Amazon Marketplace. The prices are very reasonable and you can find great bargains. My first buy was The Dark Knight, $21, and it came lightning fast.

The majority of my collection was purchased from Amazon sellers. I highly recommend buying from them if you want to save money. Just like the others mentioned, make sure to check the seller's feedback rating first.

Ive never had any problems with buying DVDs or Blu's from Amazon Marketplace. You can find some very good deals there on new and like new titles. I mostly use it to buy catalog titles. Its def worth checking there first before you order a movie. Great deals are there for the taking.

I agree with this assessment. I buy from both Amazon and Amazon marketplace sellers. However, I only buy new merchandise (blu-rays, dvds, video games) from marketplace sellers with at least 95% ratings. Everything I received so far have been factory sealed. The worst problem that I have once in a while is the case may be cracked. I think this problem could happen anywhere even in regular stores so it's not as big of an issue. I always look at the marketplace seller's price plus shipping and compare it to Amazon's price and buy the lesser of the two. The reason I don't factor in the shipping from Amazon is because I always place orders for $25.00 or more to get Free Super Saver Shipping. One of my recent purchases was for Speed Racer (10.00 + 2.98 shipping = 12.98 total).

just read the items description, beware of sellers with low ratings and inadequate or vague item descriptions. Always know what you are buying and make sure you get a New or Like New Disc
Heres Amazon's Guidelines for Sellers:
Items priced at or above the list price (MSRP) or $10, whichever is greater, are eligible for "Collectible" designation. Items priced below this may be listed under "Used" or "New", but will not be eligible for "Collectible" designation.
These additional guidelines, although not mandatory, may be used to determine whether to list an item as "Collectible." To be considered collectible, the item should be unique in a way that increases value for a collector, for example:

Signed, inscribed or scarce Seller comments should include:
Further detail on condition/completeness of item and packaging
Presence of signatures, inscriptions or other personalization Guidelines for New and Used Video and DVD items:
  • New: Just like it sounds. A brand-new, unused, unopened video or DVD in perfect condition in its original packaging and with all original packaging materials included.
  • Like New: An apparently unopened video or DVD in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The box or jewel case is clean and vivid, with no signs of wear. Suitable for presenting as a gift.
  • Very Good: A well-cared-for video or DVD that has been played, but remains in great condition. The film is complete, without interruption, and does not skip. The jewel case may show limited signs of wear, as may the liner notes.
  • Good: A video or DVD with clear external signs of wear, but one that continues to play perfectly. The video or DVD may have identification markings from its owner.
  • Acceptable: A video or DVD with extensive external signs of wear, but one that continues to play perfectly. The box or jewel case may be damaged, and the notes or other inclusions may be marked (but remain complete and legible). The video or DVD may have identification markings from its owner.
  • Unacceptable: Video or DVD recordings not created by the copyright holder, including recopied media in any form. Additionally, promotional media is prohibited for sale through Amazon Marketplace, as are recordings in which any aspect of the film is missing or obscured. Note: please reference any missing items in the condition notes field for the item.
Use that for buying as well, helps give you a better idea of whats being offered

No problems here either with marketplace sellers.
I am dependent on availability of 'International shipping' option so my choices are narrowed down, but the sellers 'Caiman' and 'Moviemars' have been great!

I'm usually careful with Caiman... but it might only be with their CDs.

They once sent me an Argentinean version of one of blink-182's albums and it even smelled fake.

But they might be trustworthy for movies, I don't know. Although I agree with MovieMars, always been excellent.

No problems with either New or Used Reg.A Blurays from Caiman (both caiman usa and caiman bargain)
On used discs I try to stay clear of most warehouse type sellers and try to look for private owners to avoid getting previous rental discs..

A small tip for you in France, and everyone else in Europe. By shopping Region A discs at Marketplace from amazon.co.uk instead of amazon.com you can save some money on shipping.. (usually 1.79 gbp vs 12.29 usd. check your currency exchange) Item prices are usually the same..
