Default Should print media die?

Thoughts? I mean when was the last time you bought a magazine? Newspaper? I buy the Sunday times but only because it's cheaper than buying pee pads at the pet store for my dog.

So do you think it's time for print media, at least for certain magazines and papers, to go online only?

*Note, books are not included as part of this. Books in my opinion should NEVER go away.*

Honestly, there are things you can do with a magazine that you just can't do with a laptop viewing a website. I read all my gaming magazines really quickly and it's much easier to do it while I've got ... alone time. Print media is good for that. Plus some websites are just a mess to go through, with a magazine the information is there and clearly formatted. It is sad to see that print is dying off, but I understand it is cheaper to cut out distribution and just shove it on a website.

there's @ least 3 jokes sitting there but for fear of what may happen to me, i'll let them go!!!

i like magazines, it gives me something to look forward to each week/month when they show up in the mail.

plus, they are a lot easier to go back to if u ever wanted vs. trying to find an archived webpage.

I might,if the new book readers which use a card format added these a) publishing companies put subscriptions out for it and b) it had a color display.

There wasn't an option on the poll for no, it still serves its purpose on occasion. I usually buy some magazines whenever traveling to see family members so I have something to do on the way.

Newspapers only should go away...by the time you get to the info printed inside, it is old news

Plus, they are extremely wasteful resource wise (plus, who wants their hands all inked up after reading a paper?)

Magazines and books need to stay

Every now and again if I know I'm going to be someplace where I'll have to wait a little while (car repair, etc.) I'll buy the paper, but I think everyone pretty much agrees its usefulness as a source for news has decreased severely.

But when it comes to reading lengthy articles, I'd much rather do so in a magazine than at my computer.

I have 2 magazine subscriptions. I also receive the newspaper every day. I really enjoy reading the paper. Sitting in the table in my brekfast nook reading the paper and drinking my coffee is a nice feeling. It just feels much more "right" to me than sticking my laptop on the table between us....

No...cause that's my job. I must say the very few magazines I subscribe to 4 of the 5 all went under this past year...

Magazines still do and always will have readers....

but daily newspapers are dying, fast. With television or radio news or online you can get your news and information lickity split... with a newspaper, you have to wait till it's printed... later that day or the next. Is it really news anymore when it's nearly 24 hours old?

Maybe because I work in broadcast journalism, i am biased. but in all honesty, most daily newspapers are struggling to keep readers from going to the internet for their news and information.
