Well let's see, I have the first two on DVD, and now I have them on BD as well since they came boxed with my Blu-ray player. I think I will get #3 alone and pass on the boxed set.

The 3 disc thing doesn't make sense.

I am going to guess that it'll be a box set featuring only the movies and not the 2nd disc of each set.

Hardly, they'll just take the existing discs and shove them in a cardboard box

I'll just grab the 3rd one. Already have the first 2 and I'll be damned if I am about to replace them for a box.

Basic set? Only the three movies? The separate offerings are two discs with a ton of extras.

Could be a cost reduced basic offering.

It will be a definite irony if people were to complain about that.

Highly unlikely.

Same SRP, 3 discs in a box

Next year you'll see box set discounts like the BVHE multipacks are doing now, but not title specific boxes

yep me too...I'm sure most people here won't have the need for the box set. Hopefully we all have the first two.

Already own the first two. Got the 3rd on order. I think I will pass on the box set. Box sets are for those that don't already own the movies and quite frankly, I am tired of waiting for box sets.

With the possibility of a 4th pirates coming - no to boxes!

They were smart to release a box set during the Christmas season this year. Yes most of us already own the first two, but thinking in long term here, people who don't have a BR player or PS3 will probably pick this up along with them. Not to mention those of us who were waiting for the box set to come out.

Inevitable I guess, but if it is one of these same 3 discs in a packaged box, then there is no big whoop.

Anyone want to buy my POTC 1 & 2 that are still sealed?

Something that they did with both Jurassic Park and Lord of the Rings was when the last movie in the series was released (along with the super-duper boxed sets), you could buy the final film as a stand-alone and mail-away for the box/case. I think I paid $6.95 s&h for the JP box, but the LotR was free. I think it would nice if Disney offered something similar with PotC3 comes out.
