I agree, I thought the PQ and AQ was great. The movie is just too dang long though after at while it just begins to feel dragged out.

Is it just me or was the rampaging Ceratops scene not in the 3 disc DVD version of the extended cut?

For the life of me I couldn't remember having ever seen that.

Simply put it's a masterpiece on Blu! I feel like Mr. Jackson raised the bar on this release and any and all questions & expectations for him regarding LOTR should be put to rest because after watching Kong I know we'll all be in for a treat when LOTR is finally released on BD.

Seriously, if you really want the extras nothing's stopping you from buying the DVDs as well. You can make your own disc set with the BD for the movie and the DVDs with the special features.

I was looking forward to getting this until I learned that it was 3 hours and that a friend of mine said it was awful.

Any other perspectives? The movie still intrigues me...

Should the DVD version of a movie ever have an advantage over the BD version?

Your friend is wrong.

It's a fantastic action/adventure with great effects and a solid performance by Naomi Watts. The majority of reviews were more than positive.

Well idk about that. Warner will now distribute LOTR's and Universal distributed King Kong. So the transfer quality of LOTR's depends on how Warner does them. Eeesh!

WTH, I thought the regular price for this was $19.99??? On Best Buys site it is now $24.99! Was gonna use giftcard to get it but not now since the price went up. I wasn't in a hurry to buy since I thought the $19.99 was regular price and I was just gonna go buy it this week along with Bourne Trilogy.

Since it is LOTR and Peter Jackson is likely overseeing its transfer to BD, I guess we should expect to see this released with all the bells and whistles that a Warner coffee/digi book release gets. That's good enough for me.

Having just finished watching the King Kong BD , I have no complaints with the disc/transfer , it is totally awesome.
My two *****es are with the films original rendering. One video and one audio.
On the video , any amateur photographer knows that the eyeball in an outdoor setting only shows one "catch light" (the sun) but in most of the outdoor scenes you can see multiple reflections from the artificial lighting in the actors eyes , plus , at the end when Jack says "it was beauty that killed the beast" the catch lights in his eyes are square not round (the sun is not square)..... very amateur crew work here , it should have been digitally corrected in post production
Audio wise ...... when I was 8 years old my $1:89 cap pistol had more punch than the Thompson Sub-Machines used here ..... very very LAME man , very very LAME
Two flaws that spoil an awesome movie

Now there's something that 99.9% of the audience would never notice... but then again it irks me to watch a classic movie like Patton and see the "Germans" driving around in American tanks that the producers are trying to pass off as Panzers.
