Default What were they thinking?

Have you ever watched a movie and and saw a part that was so stupid, you just shake your head and ask yourself "what were they thinking"? I was watching Spider-Man 3 yesterday, and yeah i seen it before, but ever time i see the jazz scene i'm like "did anyone actually watch this movie before releasing it"?! Another stupid part in a movie where i just ask myself "why?" is Mark Wahlberg talking to that freakin' plant in The Happening. What are some parts in movies that made you ask yourself "What was the director/screen writer/producer thinking when they included this part in the movie?"

Dave Chappelle thinks that way about Half Baked. He hates his own movie but I love it. Some ideas come together and sound great on paper or good to someone then in execution they don't work.

Even though I hate that movie, that scene is actually pretty funny to me.

I remember when I first watched Kingdom of Heaven, I thought it was ok until we were introduced to the King of Jerusalem. Then I asked, why didn't they just make a movie about him? He's much more interesting than Balian.

Eragon - take your pick of any decision they made in their adaption of the book.

Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire:
[Show spoiler]Why did they show Barty Crouch Jr. at the beginning of the movie?

Any Danny Boyle movie - Why all the crap? It was funny in Slumdog though.

Pretty much every scene in Disaster Movie. What amount of Godlessness does it take to publish such an atrocity?

There are a few scenes from a couple movies that I've seen and laughed at, which were supposed to be serious. Most of the time it's actors trying to be serious when they can't act. Bad writing, maybe.

- Ashton Kutcher in The Guardian (the scene with him in Costner's office).
- Angelina Jolie in Mr and Mrs Smith (the scene were she tells him to shoot her).
- Wahlberg in The Happening (ESPECIALLY the scene where he insists to the old woman that he was not planning on murdering her.. classic).

Lol, I think it was. I really do honestly think M. Night Shyamalan was trying to take a shot a comedy. The whole movie i was like "Is this a real movie?" I really thought it was a joke

Transformers:
- Any scene involving the MIB/government agents
- Any scene involving the fat, black computer "expert"
- Any scene involving the blonde, white computer "expert"
- Any scene involving Bumblebee's inability to talk
- Bumblee's peeing/lubricating scene
- The scene where the Autobots act like impatient 2-year-olds when they go to retrieve the glasses from the house
- Any other scene that tries to advance the "plot" by way of the glasses.

Lol, I love the movie for it's visuals, but i have to agree with these. It made my "Transformers is not corny" argument with my cousin pretty difficult.

And any scene referring to eBay. Optimus Prime plugging eBay like that was disgusting.

probably b/c Balian started as just a blacksmith and did what he did (avoiding spoilers), as oppose to the King who was born into it. I remember Neeson telling Bloom "here you're just a blacksmith, but in Jerumsalem..."

but i agree the King was great and would love to see a movie on him.
