its great but not perfect.. i found some of the edge enhancement a little distracting on my copy... first time i've ever noticed edge enhancement so i had to ask what it was here...

Great idea, didn't even think about that! My wife loves this movie and I really enjoy it as well. It's a fanastic love story and one of if not the biggest tear jerker movie I've ever seen.

already bought the collectors edition (got it in the B3G3 WB sale, it cost me about $12).

one of my favorite films, and yes, i'm a single dude

PQ is great, but AQ could be better IMO. during the climax scenes where the score was pronounced, i dont recall much use of surounds, and had to CRANK my system (about 10-15 higher than a typical blu-ray). i wonder if the single-disc edition will have the same transfer as the collector's edition ( i assume so...does anyone know if WB usually does this?? oh wait, nevermind...goodfellas

Read up, the audio IS better in the re-release. Going to get it and sell the one I have now, for sure. Don't really want all that other stuff anyway.

How is it better when they are both Dolby TrueHD? Where did you read that? Regardless, the standalone release is priced very nicely on Amazon right now.

yeah, i just read the rest of teh thread. didn't see it. i'm interested to see if the single disc edition is getting a re-mastered Dolby-True HD. that would help the transfer a lot. however, probably still not enough for me to double dip. ironically, how much sense would it be for WB to upgrade the Notebook AQ, but not the Goodfellas AQ?

I thought it just had a Dolby Digital lossy track, my mistake. I don't consider it double-dipping since I'll sell it to Hastings and use the money from that to buy the normal release.

No big deal. I looked at the pages for both releases on here and it had it listed as TrueHD for both. I was like

Good call. The movie is one of the few chick flicks that I actually enjoy...

I would call it less a chick flick and more a timeless love story that touched me a lot more than most love stories do. One of the few things I disagree with Roger Ebert on - his vehement dislike of Nicholas Sparks.
