I'm trying to avoid buying more horror schlock for a while, but the sci-fi aspect of this pushes it into "maybe" territory. I have delusions of owning every movie with an alien in it eventually, even though that is highly unlikely.

I do too but I couldn't pass up the $12.99 price with BB, Plus I ordered a few other Olive flicks to go along with that one from the sale.

Just got around to watching this last night. Wow is this movie bad lol. I actually forgot I had seen it before. At least it was only $13, I do like supporting Olive with all the releases they are doing lately.

This is a surprisingly good-looking blu-ray. I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. I never expected to see Breeders look this good! I'm a fan of this cinematic turd, so I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

This is now, easily, the worst movie I own. And I own crap like Forbidden World and Contamination, because I am a sci-fi slave. This movie is basically porn-level acting and production values, but not porn, which is kind of a bummer. Speaking of porn, in an age where I can access any kind of naked fornication I desire with a simple google search, the nudity in this movie is useless and almost quaint.

That said... it's kind of fun. I wish my best friend still lived nearby so we could MST3K it. Will be happy I own it next time he visits, that's for sure. In my quest to own anything sci-fi this is surely my "shooting crack in a high school bathroom" moment, but I doubt I'm ever scared straight.

This is a terrible movie, yet it definitely falls into the cliched "so bad it's good" territory. It was like a third rate 50's sci-fi/horror film, but with the hair/clothing styles, the cheap practical special effects, and the gratuitous nudity of the 80's. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this!

I've seen some fun and sleazy movies in my days but this one ranks right up there as one of the best. Just finished up my first ever viewing and I'm a bit amazed that I hadn't heard more about this one. Some amazing tan lines on display with this film as well. Pretty sure I could hear my 13 year old self from 20+ years ago geeking out over this one.

I agree, I don't know how I missed this one all these years as a horror fan. I watched it on Prime Video first, went to look for the BD on Amazon but as usual with Olive title it wasn't available at that time. A few weeks later its around $13 & I ordered it

In New York City, an alien creature is attacking women and impregnating them in order to reproduce its species on our planet. A police detective and a doctor join forces to investigate the assaults, only to find that the otherworldly terror has them in its sights as well.

The low-budget 1986 sci-fi horror outing, Breeders is a terrible movie by any conventional sense of the description. The acting is laughably subpar, the rubber monster suit looks as though it were created by drunk high school students for a play, and the narrative is a flimsy excuse to take viewers from one gratuitous nude scene to another. Director Tim Kincaid helmed one of my more recent so-bad-that-it's-good discoveries, Robot Holocaust, that same year, but this film makes that even that scrappy post-apocalyptic endeavor look almost like Citizen Kane or The Godfather.

Frances Raines, the grand-niece of the iconic classic-era Hollywood actor, Claude Rains, is the most recognizable face here as a gymnast-turned-fashion-model, although her own resume is limited to B movie fare like Disconnected and The Mutilator. Matt Mitler, who starred in two lowbrow drive-in sci-fi films that I hold in high esteem, Battle for the Lost Planet (1986) and Mutant War (1988), is a welcome addition who appears in a rather creative gore sequence here. Most of the actors appearing in this feature also starred in Bad Girls Dormitory, yet another 1986 movie directed by Kincaid.

I cannot entirely discount Breeders, because it has an underlying spirit of fun that went hand-in-hand with sleazy schlock fare during the 1980s, but nobody should walk into it expecting anything more than a campy good time. It's best to think of this as what might happen if the rock band, GWAR, were to make their own feature film.

This bare bones Olive Films disc graces us with a good-looking video transfer, but nothing else to bring to the table. I would love to have seen some interviews with cast members, so that they could explain what was going on in their brains when this film was made.

IIRC, this is a masterpiece compared to the other Breeders movie which was similar, but sorely lacking the gratuitous nudity. I swear I saw something about the 97 one coming to blu soon, but don't see it here so it must've been somewhere else.

I get the sense that you didn't enjoy Breeders Owl. Am I wrong? Was there a little too much of Frances Raines on display . No mention of Frances Raines and the other actresses
[Show spoiler]bathing in Giger inspired hot tub full of baby batter.
lol

Honestly, I didn't know what to think after my first viewing. It was my second viewing when it really clicked. Its about as bonkers as a B-movie can get and it pulls no punches.

It's a terrible movie but I kinda dug it. I wish they would put in an unmatted version as well so I can ditch the vhs. The dvd had a lot of the nudity matted from the bottom of the frame. I assume this blu ray will maintain that frame ratio as well.

I gave Breeders two and a half stars on Letterboxd.

It's a five-star two-and-a-half-star movie, though, if you catch my drift.

I remember there being generous amounts of butts and bush on the BD. While I'm sure some does get matted out, I'd be shocked if it matters considering what is shown.

I used to live for seeing films like this! It is like a 50s sci-fi/horror movie with an 80s nudity update. Everyone is young in it. The ending is twisted and sick. I enjoyed it enough to watch it end. I am not that forgiving to bad movies normally now. I had to pay import vat fees for this one. If I had known I would not have bothered.

There's been two new blu-rays released. Anolis released a blu-ray in Germany last year and Le Chat Qui Fume released a blu-ray in France this month.

The German blu-ray is noteworthy because they got an interview with Frances Raines! I saw these photos on Twitter last year and was wondering who that interview was done for. It turns out it was done for the German blu-ray. I believe this is the first time Frances has been interviewed about her movie career. The interview is 24 minutes of her discussing everything from her family (She is not the niece of Claude Rains. Claude was her stepfather's uncle.) to her movies (Breeders, The Mutilator, Bad Girls Dormitory) to what she's up to these days. It's fantastic and a must for fans who always wanted more background information on this mysterious actress who popped up in some memorable low budget movies in the 80s.

The German blu-ray also has a great interview with special effects make-up artist Ed French ("Every 14 year old boy in the world will enjoy this movie." ).
