I'm biased with onkyo 606 at that price range. The downside, this receiver has zero pre-outs incase you want to add an amplifier later.

The Pioneer VSX-1018AH is easily the best receiver on your list. It is basicly an Elite without the added warranty.

I would choose the Pioneer - great sounding receiver.
I owned the 1014TX.

Yamaha RX-V663. Reliability/heat issues scared me away from Onkyo 606. I picked up for $300 open box.

We have owned our Pioneer 1018 for over a year now and we are really pleased with our purchase... The Yamaha has the 7.2 feature for a left and right subwoofer... thats a nice feature addition.

It is great for the price, but if you can get the Denon for $400, do it.
