Default Huge Blu-ray ads at Blockbuster

I just went to Blockbuster and they have place three huge ads in the store front. Two of the ads say "Welcome To Blu-Ray. The future of HD Movies" There is a poster of Blades of Glory in the middle of the two Blu-ray ads which are placed on the store window to welcome the customers in the store.

Glad to hear this. Blockbuster is yet just another supporter driving HD into the ground.

It's going to be interesting to see how the in store bd rentals will pan out. Of the 4-5 BB stores in my area at least one-naturally the one closest to my house-won't be renting bd. According to an employee at another store that will rent bd, rentals will be on a trial basis to determine if other stores will rent bd as well. Rentals will start around Sept/Oct. All this is info gathered 3weeks ago. Who knows, things may have speeded up. One other thing, the Hollywood video in my neighborhood will start renting bd this Sept. Also, does anybody know how much th bd will rent for.

The BD rents rents for the same $ as a DVD.

I've attached a picture I took of one of these signs. There is one on each side of the entrance/exit at the Blockbuster I mostly go to.

At first I thought my local BB didn't have a big selection. They were on the new release wall in the T-Z section. I was surprised on turning around to see an even bigger section mixed in with the Action section. In all there was probably 50-70 titles. The ones I won't be buying outright, I will now rent through them. Every little bit helps support BD and my addiction to it.

I was at Blockbuster today to do my routine Total Access disc exchange thing and noticed as well that they have put special cardboard advertisements over their Blu-ray racks, really calling attention to them. Of course, when I visit BB, I only rent Blu-rays, so it is good to see that they're really trying to create consumer awareness for Blu-rays.

Default BB changes Total Access prices starting Aug 31.

WTF BB changes Total Access prices starting Aug 31. Just received the email.
It will now cost me $7 more per month and NO more instore coupons for a movie or game. This really sucks. I might just cancel!

An article i read (see attached Link) said that about 70% of the HD Rentals in the trials were bluray, so they choose to only stock bluray in their stores.

Unfortunately I just found out they are going to limit my in-store free on-line rental returns to just two per month. I think that is bogus, so may switch to Netflix because of how next to impossible it is to actually rent a blu-ray online any more, they are all VERY LONG WAIT.

a lot of people are going to cancel because of their huge price raises...apparently when people like something you are doing, you get rid of it and make them want to cancel? total access is not even total access any more...you need total access premium or something...the whole point of total access was unlimited in store exchanges...i think they will have to lower the prices when they see everyone canceling

My feelings exactly. I'm completely fed up with BB. The in store selection for BD sucks. No 300, no Wild Hogs. I don't mean out of stock I mean they don't have it for rent period.

Add to that that I've had 15 Bd's I want to rent that all have been in my que for over 45 days and all with very long wait. That's just ridiculous.

Joke response. I sent an email complaining of the plan changes. They responded with what was obviously a canned computer response that picked up the keywords "Netflix", and "cancel" in my email. I didn't say I was going to cancel, I said I may cancel. But their canned email said "we are sorry to see you go". Then they sent me a email with a survey to fill out based on their "customer service agent's response to my email. What a laugh! So I think they are trying to find out how dumb their customers are that they can't tell the difference between a computer generated response and a real person. So of course a ripped them a new one for all of that and totally called them out. If anyone else gets this, please do the same. I think they are seeing how much they can get away with. If they don't make changes quickly, I am jumping ship.

You passed Blockbuster's IQ test, so they now KNOW you're a Blu-ray customer.
