I can disagree with that.

I didn't have cable when Heroes season one was on, so I rented the first disk.

Couldn't even make it though the first episode it was that bad.

I'm not sure how it could go 'downhill' from there as it was already pretty low in my estimation.

Isn't Sylar a quasi-good guy now? Didn't he kill his Mother?!

I gave up on the show because it became very predictable. And the Mexican twins.

I can second that:

I'm that other demographic--the one unlike those nice, happy clueless office-working mainstream folks who depend on broadcast TV for their chief source of entertainment--whose actually HEARD of Marvel Comics.
The one who wasn't surprised when "Iron Man" turned out to have some brains to it, or that the X-Men movies would turn out to be all Social Allegory-like.
I may be in the wrong viewership for "Heroes", but I watched the first disk anyway, because A) well, it was in Blu, B), it's nice to have some HDTV to watch after prime time when I usually sit down to watch it, and C), to watch the Blu release just to poor-winner ram it down Universal's throat.

And while it had its watchable moments, I confess I can't honestly think of a reason besides the Lovable Japanese Geek-Guy to finish getting through Season 1--
As with most network television, there seems to be a schism between the network and the viewers: Some of us watch the show because Hiro is the only sole optimistic non-angsty character on the show who sticks up for the power of sci-fi suspension-of-disbelief...While the network thinks we tune in to watch Schizo Girl as such a cool "empowered" chick-demographic character that the guys will watch if she's snarly enough, even though she acts like she just walked out of that corny Bionic Woman remake.
I think we have a fundamental disagreement here. -_-

(I can appreciate Fox putting a moratorium on actual X-Men related TV series in connection with the movies, but it wouldn't hurt the producers to at least read a few of them once in a while, and recognize that they didn't think up the entire concept themselves.)

I read that the next episode is when that writer from Pushing Daisies starts to write the scripts so I'm hoping Heroes does a 180.

Man, I've seen season one of Sarah Conner and seasons one & two of Heroes....looks like that's as good as things get, huh? All downhill from there? Too bad, those were two promising first seasons. Bummer.

Still, it had a great story at least. I watched the first season but I didn't watch the second.

I haven't given up on watching the show, but I'm close. I think the biggest problem with the show is the characters. I honestly can't name a character on the show who I like. I think the closest is Skylar, and he's a villain. Everyone has just become so whiny.
The only chance Heroes has is if Bryan Fuller can right the ship. He was a season 1 producer who then left for Pushing Daisies. Now that Daisies is canceled he's returning to Heroes. Still, I think the damage is too severe to repair without a huge reboot. It looks like the show will be back next year.

It seems most writing teams don't have enough good ideas to keep it together through 3-4 seasons.

BSG, Heroes, Sarah Connor, all great ideas, all fell {or falling} apart in their 3rd season or before.

I was late to the game and caught season 1 on Netflix, and absolutely loved it. Season 2 in comparison was a huge let down, and there was some things I just didn't care for (Hiro in fuedal Japan story arch comes to mind). I know the second season was cut short bc of the strike and such, but regardless it just didn't feel as well thought out. My friend quit with season 3, and after how disappointing I found 2 I just never bothered.

I've finished watching the first season on blu and loved it! Starting the second season now (also on blu). Judging by the extra's found on the disc, the second season could have been something entirely different (and grimmer) had the writers' strike not hit the show.

I hope the 3rd season will be a bit better and the 4th will get things back on track. There aren't many series like Heroes out there, so I want to give it my full support. I would be sad to see it go and be stuck with nothing but soap operas on TV. I need my sci-fi/hero fix!

well i don't do squat to help ratings since i only watch shows once they release complete seasons on disc. After the first two seasons i am still enjoying this show and don't understand the hate, especially considering the writers strike hurt all my favorite shows! are all YOU GUYS reality tv fans

The hate for Season 2 stems from the fact that it felt like the writers were telling the same story about each character from the first season. At least, that's what it felt like to me. There were some good points to it but also some very bad ones, which outweighed the good. Season 3 is better than season 2, yet has some soap opera-ish qualities that irk some viewers. The current second half of season 3, Fugitives, is getting better (in my opinion) and hopefully will continue to go uphill from here on out.

I don't think thise season is bad at all. The first season was awesome, except for the LAME final episode. The fight between Sylar and Peter was just horrible. They built it up and it was like 30 seconds.

The second season was just bad all together. This season is (so far) looks promising.

This is personal opinion of course but I was actually very happy with the ending of season 1. Had it been a big slugfest, it would have been like so many other movies and series before it.

The ending that we saw didn't offer a huge slugfest, but I felt it had heart (the way every hero behaved) and it made the pieces fall together nicely in the end. "Save the cheerleader, save the world":
- thanks to Sylar not having taken Claire's abilities, Hiro could stab him, taking him out of the fight at a critical point;
- Claire being still alive caused a very important last-minute change of heart with Nathan, who ultimately saved New York by flying off with Peter
- Thanks to all that happened to Hiro, he became the determined hero necessary to stop Sylar
... and many other smaller plot points that all led up to those short but important few moments at the end.

This ending was not about power. It was about people having faith in each other, people doing the right thing (even if it's at the last moment), the journey that each had to take to get to the point they were.

Had it been a big slugfest between Peter and Sylar, it would have been epic for sure, but wouldn't have had the big emotional impact I described above.

Well, that's how I see it at least ...

+1

This show really has lost its way. Even the supposed "reboot" is terrible. I won't watch this show anymore.

I've never understood this particular vein of thought, to be honest.

Are you saying that writers are only creative if they're fed money?

I mean once that flow of money stopped their brains seem to have ceased functioning as well.

Maybe the cash was paying for their opium addictions and that was what brought about their creativity?
