I'm 100% behind this. I would rather pay a dollar more for DLC then to pay a recurring monthly charge for PSN. Think long and hard which business model you would rather support. A one time minor charge on a download, or a monthly fee even if you don't download any DLC. In the long run, I'm confident that it's cheaper to pay as I go with the DLC then to constantly pay.

Since I purchased the PS3, I've only downloaded maybe 4 DLC plus 2 complete games from PSN. So at worst, that's 6 dollars. If I had to pay for PSN at say 10$ a month, I would be over 150$ so far.

I wouldn't go as far as saying I'm 100% behind this, but I do agree that I'd rather pay the slight extra fee (assuming that game developers pass the cost down to us), than pay a monthly fee for PSN.

Of course, the best option would be to leave it alone. Don't charge the developers for bandwidth, and don't charge users for using the PSN.

All I care about is being able to play games that I enjoy. If that means that I have to pay a few extra dollars on PSN games, then so be it. Its not like that I purchase a lot of things from the PSN store anyway.

Hopefully this means that companys will be more careful with what they release on the PSN and make sure that they are confident that people will want to purchase it and if its not then make it good enough. Its just disheartening to have to umm 'shift' through the weekly updates to try to find diamonds.

That's $.16/Gb for the publishers...not us. We don't have to pay money. It's better for publishers to pay than the people that use the network. After all, that's the advertising cost to market this content to us in the first place! Remember, publishers want OUR money.

EDIT: Plus, it's only for the 1st 60 days of it being on the network.

I think that Marquoz was referring to the publishers raising their prices on the DLC in order to cover their costs. At least thats how I interpretted his statement.

Ok. However, I'm sure Sony is just passing along the cost incurred for the additional network bandwidth. I don't think the publishers should use that to make MORE money off of us. The publishers are already holding back content from the disc to gain more money on the sale of this DLC to us.

I would rather this system and game publishers pass on the cost of bandwidth to the end-user via extra charges on DLC than paying £30 a year for "PSN Gold" or what have you.

In the end it could be that publishers charge more for XBL DLC and PSN DLC to cover their PSN bandwidth costs and Xbox owners will indirectly fund PSN as well as directly funding XBL! So awesome...

It doesn't make sense to pay anything because you already paying for internet to internet provider and then Sony hits you with charge for a bandwith.
