I would not jump to conclusions with this rumor. I would say right now it is false.

I think Universal is going to go Nuteral! It is the only thing that makes since.

Why would Toshiba and Microsoft give 150 mil to Paramont and Dreamworks?

Because HD DVD is dead without an exclusive studio period. I think Tosh and MS talked to Universal about extending there special agreement, and Universal said no thanks. This is mearly speculation on my part and I don't have any proof at all, But in my mind it makes since.

Default RUMOUR:Universal May Go With Blu-ray

On the IGN Play B3yond podcast it was stated right at 7 minutes 15 seconds that Universal studios is reconsidering their stance on HD DVD and are considering going Blu-ray. They also discuss other PlayStation topics such as Paramounts decision is a mistake

If you actually listen to it, they're citing that information from the Bits

Look for the 8/9/07 entry

To call any Digital Bits report of Universal finally converting as "Wishful thinking" would be putting it mildly--
Although TDB rumors normally have credence, we should put a special proviso on this topic area, given how Bill Hunt almost never talks about anything else.

(Ie., not so much a rumor as "Have they changed yet? Have they changed yet? Here's a new disc announcement, is it an early sign they've changed yet? I heard a rumor that they were going to change next week, on my birthday...")

Paramount had been talking neutrality for 18 months, and how their strategy is best for the consumer. Agree or not, they were definitely being existing consumer friendly (but dumb for encouraging maximum future consumers).

Now, they've decided to tell all their Blu-ray customers to drop dead.

Knife in the back indeed.

Oh come off it. The guy made a statement that he was under pressure from GE to go neutral. It's on tape for pete's sake.

The general rule for any corporation, ESPECIALLY movie studios is that something is true until the day it's not. They about face and flip-flop like crazy

Are you serious? The head of Universal said he's under pressure from GE to go neutral?

Considering how confused and careful the consumers were, now there is a lesson in DON'T TRUST ANYTHING.

Paramount has screwed ALL the studios, including themselves, with this one.
