He didn't really indicated what it was that 'rocked', but that would be my guess since it wasn't on the Blu-ray. Sounds like someone from Paramount personally ran over to his place with an HD DVD player and sat him down and explained a few things to him from their position.

He didn't come right out and say it but I suspect he liked the BEEFCAKE! in HD.

Between this and the rumors of the Warner/M$ negotiations floating around today, I am getting very nervous...

If directors like Bay dug their heels in, they actually CAN make a difference. Oh well...

It's a real shame that Bay has lost his backbone, alot of the respect I once had for him 24hrs ago has now dissipated.

Default payola

I'm sure he did the retraction once Paramount called him up and told him what his salary is gonna be for the sequel, now that they have this large cash infusion...

Either that, or he's under legal obligation to support the promotion of Transformers, preventing him from saying anything negative...

At least we know his true feelings, not the edited BS.

This is called a "Cover your ass" move

Michael Bay is not Steven Spielberg, and he's not so big that he's safe from politics.

...would be nice, but how much does this little (and it IS little compared to DVD) format war matter to a director who commands 100's of millions of dollars in movie budgets? maybe he was drunk - flip-flops like this just undermine their credibility in my mind.

What he says in public, and what he says in private are very different things

He is simply not big enough to say whatever he wants and get away with it

That is what I think. I think his first post was his sincere/honest post. I have the feeling his retraction was due to legal obligations Paramount made sure to make him aware off today. Sounds like Paramount really has him by the balls.

This thing is too big for even him to fight. If Paramount has threatened him with Legal actions (perhaps based on a clause in his Transformers contract) .. what do you do right? In the end, he is just human. Sure, he probably made a good pay-check last year, but he has bills like the rest of us. So if Paramount is really playing dirty and threatening him with a multi-million dollar lawsuit ... do you really blame him?

Is this guy the real Michael Bay or is he a fake Michael Bake like the Fake Steve Jobs?

Read my lips. No more ticket sales at the box office, DVD purchases or even Blu-ray of Paramount films.

The only exception would be any Blu-ray exclusive like Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

I still hate Toshiba and only Toshiba makes HD DVD player and HD DVD is inferior in storage capacity. Is this guy on crack? Given that both format support the same codecs and Blu-ray has greater capacity (50 versus 30) and greater bandwidth, how can he be impressed by a dual format release like 300 which sold less copies on HD DVD?

Oh please. The guy got spanked. It seems Spielberg is the only one with any guts in this payola scam.

Default Michael Bay just announced he is back on Transformers 2!!!

http://www.michaelbay.com/blog/index.html

He stated that he has decided to continue working on Transformers 2. Its awesome to know a sequel is on the way, but by the time it comes out for consumers, I beg it will not be HD-DUD exclusive.
