I honestly don't think it's possible to find a "good" speaker system of any type for $50. I would recommend to save some money up and look at the Polk RM6750 or the Klipsch Quintet sets at around $199. Anything less than that is honestly just throwing your money away in my opinion.

Sorry to say this - but you need to save. I would have recommended the Gale subsat system but AudioAdvisor doesn't carry it anymore (it was $100.00). They're are systems from JVC and such that are in your price range but the larger question is - Are they worth it? I would save that 50.00 and if you get paid once every 2 weeks you will have 200.00 in 2 months - then you could buy something like the Polk subsat system from Amazon.

PS do you have a receiver at all? What are you hooking the speakers up to? ....Definately save.

Even I say save at this point, and I almost NEVER do (usually I'm a "let the person do what they want" kind of guy).

However, when I see $50 as your price point -- I have to agree. I just can't see you getting anything even semi-decent at that price.

Saving is your friend in this case.

Do yourself a favor and wait till you have much more that $50 available for your speakers. You will be much happier in the long run. I think that you should spend at least $200 to $500 or more for your speakers for an introductory system.

PLEASE, save your money. I promise you nothing but regret for $50 or less! If you can wait, and save up about 5 - 600 bucks you can get a nice entry level HTIB I think most of us here would agree, you should wait. the pain of waiting is small compared to the pain of living with what you would get (if you can get something) for $50.00
REMEMBER I TOLD YOU SO!

I would most definitely avoid this. I would equate these speakers to a Yugo (one of the worst cars ever sold) for a car. Try to listen to something else before you conclude that your Brother's System sounds really good.

Why not try a yardsale or flea market? I don't know if you can rest assured anything you find will actually work but maybe there is something you can work out with the seller. I am guessing you don't have a receiver, so what you want is a used HTIB. If your $50 budget is real strict, you may want to leave a few dollars to buy some speaker wire as well.

Once you have used this ultra low cost system and you start upgrading, you can probably sell it for as much as you paid and cost wise it is a wash. I don't think the brand will matter to you at the level you are talking about, so whatever seems good. Oh, maybe try sniffing the grill of the receiver to be sure it doesn't smell like it has burned up if you can't test it out first.
