Default Looking to buy reciever and speakers

Pretty much as stated above. For the reciever, I was looking @ the Onkyo TX-SR806 or TX-SR607. I currently have 4 HDMIs hooked to my TV and these are some of the few that had enough inputs. In addition I've not heard much bad about Onkyo receivers and I know I can find both of these for ~$600-700. Opinions on which to go with.
Then I'm looking for a 5.1 or 7.1 set to use with this receiver. Any suggestions for a decent set that won't break my bank.

I love my Onkyo 605, so I do not think you can go wrong with either receiver. So, my 2 cents says to go with the 806 because it is considered a higher model than the 607, even though the 607 is newer. The 806 gives you 40 more watts per channel (130 vs 90) and it is THX Certified (the specs for the 607 do not indicate that it is THX Certified). According to the specs, even though they say that the 806 is 7.1, it does states there are dual sub outs to set up 2 subs if you decide to do so down the road on the 806. The 607 also has dual sub outs as well.

As far as excellent speakers without breaking the bank (if you could provide a budget for the speakers as you did for the receivers, it would help) , IMO, I say Polk speakers are excellent speakers that will not break the bank if the price point is that important to you. NewEgg is a good place to look for good deals on Polks, so you could look there.

I hope some of this helps, good luck!

In terms of the recievers depending on where you want to get them at Ebay sellers are selling the Pioneer Elite SC-05 for under 800 shipped which if you ask me blow away the Onkyo's even though I own the 605 currently. In terms of speakers depends on what you are really looking to get out of them. I watch pretty much all movies with the small exception of playing music so I went with Klipsch though they are a tad more expensive than Polks to me they sound better...IMO...I got all my speakers for under 2200 at various places but I couldn't be happier with my setup...Unless I have an amp....hahaha I need more POWER!

90 w/ per channel is killing me when my speakers can handle so much more. The Emotiva 7 channel 200 w/ per channel AMP would be key for my setup. I need it I NEED IT! lol I just got to be patient cause I am also saving up for sweet home theater seating as well probably a black 4 person seating arrangement with the recliners and cup holders. :rools:: One day it will be mine, OH YES it will be mine!

Ha! I just upgraded too and I'm trying to unload the RM6750s. There must be a speaker graveyard somewhere full of the RM6750 sets that were discarded after upgraditis set in.

is unlikely you can get those new receiver and a decent speaker for 600-700 more like 800-1000.

consider 607 it still very new and costly, 606 is the deal, you might wanted to wait few months maybe to black friday for some real deal.

I wasn't going to update the signature until the sub came in, but oh well. I haven't hooked everything up yet because I'm still waiting on cables from Blue Jeans and Monoprice. And believe it or not I don't own a digital camera. I'm not sure why. All I have is the iPhone camera and it sucks. A camera is next on my list, after a SubDude, the APC H15, etc.

I recommend the TX-SR606 for under $400. The 607 is the 606 and more, but are an extra HDMI and sub port worth $100? Eh, maybe. I always buy last year's model, but then I'm a cheapskate.

Just remember that the less you spend on the receiver the more you get to spend on the speakers. Personally, I'd rather have better speakers and a perfectly good receiver than the other way around.

Speaking of speakers, Newegg has had some great deals lately on Polk Monitors. The 60s are $130 each and the 30s are $100/pair. The CS1 center is only $80. Opinions vary on who makes a good sub, but the Polk PSW110 is going for $200. Get your cables at BlueJeans or Monoprice and you're ready to go with a really nice setup for around $1,100.

I just love spending other people's money.

You should worry about your speakers before your receiver. Speakers should be 70% of your budget. And if you are looking to spend as little as possible on your speakers, don't be buying an 806.

Once you decide on speakers, take a look at the Yamaha RX-v565. It's $429 shipped from Newegg but has been cheaper as recently as 2 weeks ago.

7.1
decodes all HD Audio
4 HDMI
Upscales to 1080p
Burr Brown DAC
90w x 7

CONS:
No analog
Cheaper speaker connections

Or jump to the 665
adds analog in case you wanted to add an amp in the future and better speaker posts.

Yeah, there's definitely no point in buying an 806 if you're going to turn around and buy a satellite system like the Polk RM6750 set. The 60X line will more than do for that speaker set.

Do it right the first time. Don't jump in on the cheap stuff just because it's cheap.

The biggest thing is go audition speakers for yourself. When I bought mine I sat and compared them to many other brands, and they had the sound I was looking for at the price point I was looking for.Take your time and really think about what you want and you'll be less likely to be disappointed when you get home. Also go with a Onkyo, pound for pound they are the easiest to work with. Processing is great for what you spend. I've set up Dennon,Yamaha,Harmon Kardon,Kenwood,JVC,Sony and none are as user friendly as Onkyo.Don't get me wrong all have there good and bad points but if you want less frustration and more movie time, game time or whatever go Onkyo.

Not for nothing, but you could always look into the Pioneer VSX-01TXH MSRP for $750 or even the VSX-1019 that comes out in a week for $499.

Always good to have some options.

Cheers.
