Knowing...

So...I saw this last night. I am a Nicholas Cage fan. I enjoy a lot of his films. I heard this movie was good and the reviews have been pretty positive. So I figured what the heck. I guess I was expecting something along the lines of National Treasure. Alex Proyas did the directing. I liked his work with Dark City and I Robot.

Well, it started off pretty intense and had a strong plot. The acting was good on Cage's part. There was a really impressive plane crash scene. I don't want to give the plot away too much. Now the movie was great until the last 10 mins lol. Somehow, George Lucas must have gotten the script and changed it to aliens. Because these crazy looking pods came down from earth and took 2 kids and everyone else died. Now, I'm told they were angels but believe what you want. They looked like cyborgs. They tied in a really good plot with religion(bad idea) aka the "Rapture." Keep in mind that "Rapture" was never mentioned during the movie. I think this was thought out originally because most people don't know about the "Rapture" so they just took it as a fantasy-type-alien adventure with a Lucas-type twist. Nevertheless, I just shook my head during the ending. The movie could have been really good. Will I buy it on blu-ray? Eh maybe but IDK if I can handle the ending.

Anyone else care to add their opinions/thoughts? I'm trying to figure out how Ebert gave it the honorary "4-star status." Rotten Tomatoes has it ranked at barely over 25%.

[Show spoiler]Well I think what the end of the film was saying was that Aliens not God are the ones who paved way for our existence and if you really think about it especially the ending this is just proving that there was no Jesus Christ which after I saw it the next day this thought came to me. If Aliens were the creators of our world and are the ones to try to organize our way of life then there would be no God and no son of god.

Just my goofy analysis of the ending if you ask me. But I really enjoyed the movie even the end.

I think Tom Cruise got a hold of this movie somehow him and all his "scientology" beliefs

I thought it was awesome but I love Rose Byrne so maybe I'm just a bit biased. Definitely want it the first day it comes out, think it will be one of my best blu-rays yet.

I felt that way also.

[Show spoiler]The whole point of mentioning Ezekiel, in my opinion, was to show that when he had this vision it was actually aliens. It is often talked about as a literary reference to flying saucers. That further implies that if aliens had wing-like things and perfect worlds that the whole Bible is true, kinda, but actually about aliens. Not the Bible is true and is about God.

That is not a popular opinion though.
